Over the last couple of months I have had a problem that is getting worse. And thought someone may have had the same situation and be able to point me in the right direction before I start tearing things apart.
About 50% of the time when opening the drivers door from either inside or outside the window stays in its fully up position ie will not retract the normal 1/2 inch. When trying to close the door it will not fully latch, The remedy is to turn on the ignition and push the window down button, the window will then go to its 1/2 inch down position and the door will close and the window will fully raise as normal.
I assume that somewhere in the door there is a switch connected to the door handles that operates the initial window movement, my first thoughts are that this switch is out of adjustment or malfunctioning, any thoughts?

    Thanks Russell

There may be a synchronization process.

I had an SL500, and when I replaced the battery, I had that same problem.

Cure: key on, window switch down and hold for 10 seconds after the window was down fully. Then up and hold for 10 seconds after window fully up.

Don't know if this is applicable to the 360.

Other than that it could be a sensor. That I do not know.

I had the same problem on my 2000 360M. The dealer removed the door panel and did the adjustment for $187.50. No new parts were involved.

try cutting power to the ECU first and see if that helps. Also, is the little red alarm LED on the dash on while you drive by any chance?

If you lived near San Francisco, you could just come over and we could have the door apart and the switch adjusted in like 20 minutes. Feel free to PM me and you can call and I can walk you through it if you don't feel like taking it to the $$$ dealer.

    Mike,

    That's a very nice gesture.

How about my paint chips, though?

Wow...all my favorite F-guys are posting on this thread. I wish I had something to contribute.

OH....try changing your exhaust system or perhaps it's something to do with your bypass valves! :)

I'm pretty sure it's an ECU thing OR just an adjustment of a switch in/near the door-handle...same advise these guys have already offered. Isn't F-Chat an amazing resource! :)

I might be wrong but I think there is a window re-set process in the manual. Try that.

    Thanks for all the replies.
I did try the battery off thing as I noticed that the doors/windows are controled by a ECU but this did not cure the problem.
I'm sure it is a micro switch somewhere in the door that is out of adjustment.
With a bit of luck I shall have some time next week end to investigate.

    Hey Russell,

I had this same problem on my 360. There is a way to recalibrate the window. If I remember the sequence correctly it was:

    1) Open the door and turn the key into the first position for power
    2) Hold the window down button until the window is fully down and then hold for an additional 10seconds.
    3) Then hold the up button on the window until fully up and again hold for additional 10seconds.

I did this and it worked for a period of time. My problem was a switch contact was going bad so I eventually had to get this fixed.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Paul

I must say sorry to you as I thought you were joking about the reset process and have noticed that someone else has just posted the sequence for resetting the windows.

I will try this tonight and post the results for future reference.

I have this same problem on my 360 Spyder, in the driver side window. I have made the process that you said, but do not working. Exactly, where is the switch that usually fails?

can you indicate it in the drawing?

I'm having the same problem on my 360..
I have installed a new Door opening unit with sensor and there is another sensor hanging in the door that mounts somewhere but I can't figure out where. I have looked at my manual, the workshop manual and can't find out where it goes. It is glued to the drivers side door panel and the passengers side does not have it.

Its number 73 in this picture.. If you guys have had your door panel off let me know where this mounts..

    Another picture.

My car does not have #51 in this picture. It also does not have anymore plug-ins. ??? So which sensor does the drivers door have? 51 or 73 in the other picture.

It looks like #51 would be useful in knowing how far to drop the window when opening, I can't figure out what 73 connected to 72 would do??

Why does it always have to be a diagram of the right hand door..:(

My red alarm light stays on, I knew the battery is probably dead inside the box. Does it also cause problems with the window operation??

    Thx,
    Scott

It is possible, my red alarm light also remained ignited, weeks ago I changed the internal batteries and now it is extinguished.

When I pulse the remote control to close the car, the lights ignites 1+4 times, means that one switch is not well. I believe that I will have to go to the distributor.

I already had thought that it is not good for rubbers. For me, the problem is not the $200, are the 400 km of distance until the distributor closest.

I have not been able to repair the door of my 360 spyder.
When I open the door does not lower the crystal.
I have disassembled the panel of the door, but I do not know that to do.
There is somebody knows that there is to make to repair it
exactly what interuptor does not work? or as usually it is the problem by which it does not work well?

    Regards,

    Alfredo.
