I just finished my first oil change and decided to torque both drain plugs to 28 ft/lbs seeing that most who followed the WSM specs ended up stripping the threads. Is 28 ft/lbs enough or should I increase it? I've done several searches but with no concrete conclusion. Some say 25-35 ft/lbs but some have stripped at 35. I just want to be sure and safe before putting back the belly pan.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Did you apply the same torque to both front and rear plugs?

Yes, both on the motor & the 1 on the gearbox.. did them all the same. I use 5w40 Redline for motor oil & just switched from Royal Purple to Redline 75w90ns with approx 2 ozs of friction modifier in the gearbox. Gearbox seems perfect with the redline in the few miles I have driven since change, Royal Purple worked great also.
For future reference- oil filter is 18.43 ft lbs or 25NM.. strongly suggest the Hill manufactured oil filter removal tool... I cannot see how anyone could do without it! Especially on the spider.. unsure if anything in the way of access to it on the modena.
