How long does the 360 take to drop from 1st to n and is this a programmable value? I've driven a few cars and unless I'm wrong it looks like it can be from 10-15 sec all the way up to 1 minute or longer?

    Any insight?

I don't understand the question, but I will try to help.
On my car if I pull back on both paddles it goes to neutral instantly. If I'm stopped while in gear it will go into neutral after several minutes (I never waited long enough so I don't know the timing of this). If I'm stopped in 1st gear and my foot comes off the brake (or lightens enough for the brake lights to turn off), it will go into neutral in a few seconds.
I'm not sure if that's what you were asking, but I hope it helped.
By the way, that's not a programmable value, it's just a set value and all cars should be the same.

Ok, sorry -- I assumed everybody can read my mind.

I think my confusion comes from the fact of being stopped in gear with foot firmly on the brake and being stopped in gear with foot feathering the brake (still keeping the car still). It sounds like in the first case (firm on the brake) then it stays in gear (1st) for a while, but in the second case (where the brake switch disengages?) it will drop to N quickly.

If that is the case then I can see why I found it different in the cars I drove (basically it's my driving).

If your foot is on the brake in a Ferrari then you are not driving it right. :)

    Yep, sound about right.
The Brake light switches seem to be adjusted a little differently on each car. If you want to see how sensitive the switch is set, drive it at night. In the dark, you can see the third brake light glowing through the hatch when you look in your rear view mirror. While stopped, just look at the light while you depress and release the pedal. If the light is off, it will pop into neutral quickly. If the light is on, it takes several minutes. I usually put it in neutral myself (pull both paddles at once) if I think the light will take more than 10 or 20 seconds to turn green.
By the way, if you don't like the way the brake switch is set (too sensitive, or not sensitive enough) you can adjust it very easily in a matter of seconds.

DT- According to the OM (02 US), if you are stopped in gear without your foot on the brake, the F1 system will select neutral after 4 seconds. If stopped with foot firmly on the brake pedal, it takes 10 minutes to select neutral.

With that short a time (it is 90 seconds for a 575M), it does not take much relaxing on brake pedal pressure to put you into neutral.
