    Hi !!

I just completed a belt change and fixed the timing 100% correct (used degree wheel and dial indicators, cool) and even though it is seems to drive ok, occasionally it gives me the impression that something is not right, the car idles with short pauses (as if is momentarily stalling and starting). This pauses when idling are very short but it feels like something is not right...

The MAF and Lamda sensors are new and I've changed ALL air inlet gasket (so no chance of air leak)...

Could it be a faulty ECU ???

Are ECU interchangeable with other cars 360 cars ??

My car is manual, do I have to find manual ECU to try to swap ?

What about the immobilizer, does it interfear with ECU ??

    Thanks !

Unlikely to be a faulty ecu, more likley some kind of an intermittent wiring or sensor fault
I would get an SD2 / SD3 scan done before replacing anything.

    Thanks for your reply !!

The SD2 / SD3 scan shows everything to be fine... That's what is driving me crazy...

I thought it could be faulty ignition coils (maybe one cylinder is working intermittently) , faulty fuel injectors (???) , or faulty throttle bodies... But there is no CEL or error code on the SD2 / SD3 scan...

For 2 years I did something wrong with the ECU which I had no idea... I would drive the car every Sunday and would switch off the battery after the drive for fear of the battery running down... Next weekend I would turn battery switch on and drive the car after 5 mins without doing any of the ECU learning procedure... Car worked fine... Until the dealer told me not to do it anymore...

Could these 2 years of on/off have caused damage to the ECU ??

Thanks I read about it and did it on my car... But occasionally the car doesn't idle right... Could it be bad throttle body ? Would there be a CEL if there was a bad throttle body?

Are the parts all correct part #s? How do you know you have no air leak, the fact that parts were replaced doesn't mean a problem was not introduced. Time to go to basics. If there are no CEL thrown or pending, you need to monitor the actual values. You say that an SD2/SD3 read for codes, which was it, 2 or 3, and by whom?

As stated, a proper reset and relearn must be carried out. You are expecting a silver bullet answer without laying out the hard facts for an internet analysis........
