I own a 2001 360 spider, precats delete with headers. we have new emission protocols in Colorado that now test with the obd connector instead of a standing tail pipe test. so with precat delete I cannot get readiness monitors ready & no cel at the same time. I talked to somebody a vivid & was told the ecu they do will not work for me. anybody know who can upgrade or modify ecu's that will work for this purpose?

I think you might be screwed. The OBD testing is designed to catch changes like cat deletes, O2 sensor mods, etc. There are several standard parameters that must be completed and stored on the ECU to pass emissions.

In AZ, they use OBD protocol as well. Just went through a headache getting my daughter's VW to pass emissions. Just changed the battery, which clears all DTCs and resets the ECU. The car needed to go through a driving cycle to reset the ECU parameters. It took three days, filling the gas tank, a couple of overnight sits to stabilize the engine temp to outside temp before starting and driving around to get all the test parameters to reset.

You may have to re-install the Cats, do a drive cycle to reset the ECU and then go for emission testing. Once you do that, then do your Cat delete and drive until you need to get emissions retested. And a re-install Cats, testing, then Cat delete will probably be less expensive than trying to get a modified ECU that circumvents the emissions.

Mine had a main cat delete by prior to my ownership. I used these.

And I don't get a cel any more. I do not recommend re-flashing the ecu unless you have exhausted (no pun) less expensive options.

IIRC there are others that have deleted pre cats and don't get a cel. Have you read the codes, or are you assuming it's the lack of pre-cats.

    Hi Gary in Denver,

If you get that solution that 360+Volt suggests, let us know if it works for you. Can't beat the price and if it does the job I, for one, would really like to know.

Go to your local autozone or something similar. Buy spark plug defouler. Put this before your o2 and screw your o2 into it. It is under $5 each.

May work, but the mini cats are not much more $, and have a catalyst grid that in theory is suppose to heat and burn the hydrocarbons before the O2 sensor.

OP- Btw have you read the actual codes?

If those don't get the job done, the Fabspeed ones will. Not sure who you spoke to here, but feel free to call me directly at 480.966.3040 ext 249.

Good luck passing the visual check if your state has that too.

You may also have seen some of the press currently about th EPA clamping down on the aftermarket modifications, not sure where that will go, but they have a paper trail to your car from the parts supplier...........

This may or may not work but it has worked for non F cars. Pre cat sensor sniffs bad air.Post cat sniffer is supposed to sense cleaner air. Pull out post cat sensor and let it dangle in clean air. Of course put a plug in the pipe. I have seen cars pass obd 2 using this method. Or using a cat sym. Have used post cat syms myself. I think you are mistaken. Post cat is expected have less O2 as it is used to burn the unburned hydrocarbons in the cat. Dangling the sensor will increase the O2.

Hmm.So why did it work? I have Seen it work on Vipers. Myself has run no cats on a viper, Had the pre cat sensors plugged in but used a sym forr the rear of cat sensor. Others let the aft sensor dangle in the air. OBD2 quirk of the system? Of course a computer reprogram will fix it too.

Have a friend with a 575M fitted with his own header design eliminating the precats and going to large 200 series cats that had the same problem. Fiddling with the location and length of the connecting tubes for the lambda sensors eventually solved the problem, with quite a bit of trial and error. You can see it in the 575 section "6-1 headers".

codes p1135 & p1198 popped up, never had these codes before. my homework told me these are o2 sensor codes. played the shell game with the upstream sensors & codes returned. do not have a Ferrari specific scan tool, so used the generic functions. vague information with generic. it gave me 3 o2 sensor monitors all sensor 1 bank 2, so i'm not sure if info is 3 different sensors. used lab scope to check voltage on each wire for each sensor & both up & downstream showed the same voltages. so more homework for me
