My battery died on me after sitting idle for a couple of days (just after a 200km day). My dealer (predictably) say I must have left something switched on (I strongly doubt it).

They suggested towing it to the service shop, check the elec circuit, recharge battery. Reset ECU memory.

    Any similar experiances, ideas?

Car specs: 9 months old. 12k km. original battery.

Mine died after 3 days of having my radar detector on (V1) for the first time. A jump fixed the problem. Mine is a 2000 and is on the original battery. I have purchased a trickle charger since and plug it in when not driving for extended periods.

I think I would get the battery charged up give it a run, then park it up, make sure everything is off, leave it overnight and see what happens. If goes flat, get the battery tested first.
By the way, why does the chip need reprogramming ?

It has been speculated that the factory Fiamm battery is not very good, either in life or capacity. You might do well to just replace it with something better. Oh, and do get some sort of trickle charger...like this:

If you want to make things easy, you can splice on a cigarette adapter like this: http://snipurl.com/5rl7

Then, you just plug into your cigarette light when you park in your garage.

They towed the car to dealership, checked electrical circuits, tried (unsuccesfuly) to re-charge the battery and then decided replace the battery for free!

    Thanks Ferrari!!!

    Been working perfectly since.

If you're in the UK we have the following battery conditioner which plugs into the mains and comes with a cigar lighter attachment so you can keep your battery topped up when it's not running.

    #MC3750/50 £41.36 including VAT w/o shipping.

All you fellows need a battery protector. My '01 Modena never has a problem with the battery. I keep it plugged in and only unplug when I take it out (weekly). On holiday I unplug it for safety reasons and still have no problem. You need to keep your battery "up." There are computer and other "vampires" which will drain your battery if you do not prevent it. My wife's Mercedes has a backup battery to stop this. The Ferrari ,sadly, does not. Several companies make competent units . My friend's '66 Corvette has one, and has not had a new battery in ten years. The idea is that these devices keep the battery at 14 volts all the time. The best ones prevent sulphating, and this is the one you "garage queen" guys need. Spend about $60 and you will rest a lot easier. I know buyers like low miles. but, experts know that driven Ferraris are happy Ferraris. Minor question. Why do we all treat our cars like we care more about the next buyer than we do ourselves? I'm not trying to be flippant. I'm part of that phenomenon myself. Cheers, and merry Christmas, happy Chanuka(sp?), happy holidays to others, except muslims.

    Kenneth,
You're "preachin' to the choir"...most of the folks here do have battery tenders for their cars. Any car that sits more than it is driven, requires one. If driven at least weekly, a battery tender may not even be necessary. People HAVE had a lot of battery issues with the 360's though. For some reason, the factory Fiamm battery has just been troublesome. Even folks that get brand new replacement Fiamm have had problems shortly thereafter. Getting a high quality aftermarket replacement battery (Interstate or Optima) seems to solve the issue.

I agree with your statement....I have tried to make each of my Ferraris "better" when sold (upgrades, fixes, etc.), then when I originally purchased them....well, except for the added miles. ;)

Same to you, now be careful you don't wind up with a rocket launcher up your a_s......

Good question on the garage queen thing. It's unfortunate that so many people don't drive them because it kind of spoils things. People are afraid of resale and/or those who can afford it are so busy they don't even have time to drive. It's great for those who are looking to pick up a pre owned and babied car though.......;)
