Some guys have oil paintings. Some guys have statues. Some guys have sports memorabilia. For us Ferrari guys there's the ultimate office display!

Bought a spare motor for my Challenge car and was planning to service it in case it was needed. Started cleaning it up and decided that I would hold off and make it a display until duty calls! :) Came out so nice that it may never see duty again!

man that is awsome. now polish the rest of the motor except for top of red intake manifold. make custom round glass on top and display other ferrari toys.

how hard would of be to make it start? i'm sure you can use some standalone to start it. if you do than you don't need anymore audio at home. might be cheaper than high end home audio speakers.

Thanks for all the compliments. I find myself staring at the thing when I'm on the phone or taking a moment to relax during a hectic day. It's almost ... therapeutic! :)

If I make the decision never to use the motor I will probably polish the pulleys and clean up a few more things. However, I did not want to go crazy in the event duty called and it ended up in the race car.

I had a custom stand made which is also painted in the same crackle red paint as the intake covers. Came out very nicely. What amazed me the most is the way the kidney-shaped exhaust system polished up.

I have a viper v10 shortblock laying around at my office.......its not as pretty as yours though....

what do your co workers think of you having a motor worth several thousand dollars "on display" in the office??

ps you might want to close the blinds!!!

Truly beautiful!!! Now you need a 360 steering wheel to mount on the wall above it, I saw one for sale at the Ferrari store in Rome.

Good question. I am guessing around 500 pounds or so. It's a b***h to roll on the carpet! :)
A functional engine is worth anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000 depending on the year, miles, service, etc. I bought it as a spare for my race car and had no intention of making it a display. I will probably look for a blown motor for $5,000 to $10,000 that I could turn into a permanent display. This motor will probably have to do duty at some point since it's too expensive to sit in my office permanently.
No one has made any comments other than "oooh and aaaah or I want one!" :)

See you can't have one of these if you have kids or pets. You'd end up with crayons jammed in the intake, and the belts would have gnawed in marks from a cat or dog.

edit: 85" Plasma in your bedroom, OH YEAH!?!?!? WELL MY COFFEE TABLE HAS 400 HORSEPOWER!

Thats insane! I love it! I admit however i dont know much about engines, but leaving it there just to sit, would not do the internals any good hey? which is why you said that motor will actually see service, and you'll use an already used engine for your display..
