Sounds a bit stupid asking this, but what is the proper way to check engine oil level on a 360? I checked few times as the manual instructs, engine idling with oil temp warm, and when I unscrew the cap, the level is well below the Min level. But when I screw it back and wait a bit and check again, it is at Max.

I checked oil level on other cars thousands of times, but never seen this.

    Hi,

I have had the same problem with a lot of bubbles (Oil : Shell Helix ultra 5W40).

You begin to run until the engine is warm (Oil temp : 75°C), then you stop the engine a few minutes. You restart the engine and you can check the oil level without bubbles.

I was stumped too. But learned 2 things: check the oil level with the engine HOT, meaning after driving at least 10 miles. Check it 3 times, wiping the dipstick every time, and making sure the cap sits at the base, or as low as it'd go. Just don't turn it, but it should be fully seated. Even after checking it 3 times, level will get higher when temperatures get hotter, so leave level at THREE QUARTERS. I filled it up with engine fully hot but it was 65º outside. Checked it the other day and it was about 1/4L overfilled (WTF?). Checked it yesterday at 90ºF and it's still at 3/4, so all is well. Oh, and I don't recommend shutting off the car; I did that and it was reading 1/2L low, so it takes a while to get to the proper level. If it's foamy, just do it three times like I suggested and you should be fine.

By the way, I suspected level was high when started car and saw a bit of gray smoke right after engine fired up. The next day engine started a bit rough and took like a second longer to crank. Am waiting for a 5-point security torx socket set to remove MAF sensors and clean them with brake fluid for any oil residue. That should clear the issue. Level wasn't high enough to have been sucked into the intake IMO. Take care.
