360 360 Engine Oil Passage Offset - 360 Engine rebuild

Has anyone else seen this when rebuilding a 360 engine?

I removed the two brass plugs to do a final cleaning of the main oil passage in the block to the crankshaft, and saw a 1/4" step about halfway down. This looks like they machined the passage from two directions and they missed their mark by roughly 0.25 inches.

I'm being told this could cause oil cavitation and starve some of the crankshaft bearings of oil. Any thoughts?
