Considering buying a 2000 360-Euro coupe 22k with recent belt service. Going to see car this weekend. Info on car through phone conversations has been vague so far. As we all know a recent service could be three weeks, 3 months or 3 years ago. Paperwork will be provided when I view the car. The car supposedly has books/manuals, tool kit, and car cover. Do the Euro cars have the same configuration of tool kit and inflator bottle as US spec car?

As far as keys go owner claims he has red key fob with key, no black fobs as far as he knows and doesn’t seem to know anything about a PIN code. Do the Euro cars have the same configuration as the US cars as far as key fobs, PIN codes and alarm functions?

Serial number suggests that this car should have had the variator campaign performed; does this campaign apply to Euro cars also? How important is the federalization paperwork? It appears owner does not have it; claims all the stickers are on the car. Car is registered in US.

Answers to these questions would be appreciated and any other info on a Euro would be very helpful. Thanks.

Do a search of my posts and you will find a lot of answers. For your specific questions:

    Same books tools etc.

Same key setup but it appears that missing PIN and fobs is pretty common for both US an euro. Demand a discount for the missing PIN & fobs.

Euros have the same variator problem BUT they won't show in the US database as needing the update. The only way to know for sure is to take it apart and look at the variators. If they were changed, you should have paperwork AND a VD should be stamped on the head. RayJohn posted a photo of where it should be located. Take a digital camera so you can get some pics of the area, much easier than trying to see it.

Federal paperwork is critical. The car is a non starter without the paperwork. I guess you could get a copy from the feds but I would demand a big discount for that.

Is the car 49 state or 50 state, probably a 49 state car. That makes a big difference if the car ever comes to CA and somewhat limits the buyers. You can get to 50 state but miles are your enemy for the qualification; you can find a detailed post I made about registering a euro in CA. That post also discusses the various paperwork.

Yes, I have a euro and I have 50 state car. At least I do now :) so I have a lot of experience on this subject.

Don't be worried about euro vs US but get a discout for missing stuff just like you would on a US car.
