I have heard the standard exhaust and the factory installed racing exhaust, but not the Tubi. At the risk of being classified as a neophyte to this forum, which I am (I have to start somewhere),I am interested in hearing other opinions about the three exhaust systems mentioned. Since I have not heard the Tubi, that is what I really want to know about.

    Robert -

Were you on business-40 in Winston Salem this weekend (sunday, around noon) ? I was headed westbound in my black 348 and honked at a red 360 spider running east.

    Having said that...

I think you'll find that most people feel Tubi has the best overall sound production, but the most prohibitive cost. Capristo and Stebro are other options, but not nearly was widely deployed. Remember, these things really wail above 4500revs. If you're concerned about testing the system under those conditions, just toss me the keys and I'll get ya all set up. :)

Watch www.fca-nc.com for local events. There's a good crew of us in central NC, and we're always looking for more folks to join our drives!

Buddy Delaine just put a Capristo stage II on his, and it beats the tubi hands down. He's in Columbia.

The nice thing about the Capristo 360 exhaust system is it can be ordered in 3 different sound levels 1, 2, or 3 the higher the number the louder & more aggressive the system is, I have heard some customers say “the Capristo is loud or its too quiet” keep in mind it comes in 3 different sound profiles. Make sure that you find a dealer or a distributor who knows his product & can direct you into the correct sound profile. I sold the system to Buddy. I made sure that I got the correct sound profile that suited him, for some it may be too quiet, some too loud, some just right but at least with the Capristo you have 3 level choices .The build quality outstanding. I do have catalogs avail just send me your address & I will send you a catalog. I also sell exhaust systems by Mille Miglia , ANSA, CSC, X-OST,
Here is a direct link from my website on a level 3 sound profile 360

I went with David a while back to check out Buddy's 360. The sound is sooo nice. I have a Video Clip somewhere on my Digital Camera of the sound. I will load it up once I get done with all these meetings, conferences for work and if I have time.

Thanks to all for the great information on the various exhaust systems available. I did not realize there were so many options. I will check the information everyone provided.

Jack Russell Racing: Yes that was me last Sunday, I saw you too. Did you also honk at the sexy brunette in the Silver 360 behind me? I check the FCA-NC website regularly for things to do, but the site has been a little slow of late. I plan to go to VIR at the end of April for the South Course and participate in the Moonshine Rally on May 14th. I had also heard from some guys at VIR this weekend (who had a black f355 and red 308) that someone was organizing another drive to the Dragoon sometime soon. They said they would e-mail information. JDavid's postings about the Dragoon have peaked my interest. Hope to see you going in the same direction sometime soon.

Gotta go, I want to check out Nick's link about the exhaust. Thanks again to all.

    Robert -

The Asheville weekend is April 2/3. We'll drive out there on Friday afternoon, do the Dragon (slowly) on Saturday day, banquet on Saturday night, drive home on Sunday. Spouses will probably do a spa-day at the Grove Park while we're driving. There is a discounted room rate at the Grove Park Inn... call and see if they still have rooms at that price. If you'd like to go, let me know. I'd love to meet in Statesville, then caravan from there.

ALSO... if you want track time to get ready for the VIR event, there's an event at Carolina Motor Sports park (Kersaw, SC) that a few of us are going down for. It's Friday March 11th. See the sticky-note at the top of the NC/SC forum for all the information.

Damn the odometer, screw the resale! It's almost Ferrari driving season again!!

    Kindly,
    Daniel

I received the information about the Dragon get together in early April from David Nierle, whom I met at VIR this past weekend. I think he was the one with the red 308. I have already made reservations at the Grove Park for the weekend and would love to caravan up there with you. My wife has already done the spa thing at the Grove Park and would much more enjoy riding with me on the Dragon. She enjoys the cars as much as I do and thank goodness is just as content riding as she is driving. She gets to look at the scenery a little more.

I have seen the thread on the track day at CMP. Unfortunatley, I will not be able to attend. I can't get the 360 Spyder out on the track that much because I don't have roll bars, so I convinced my wife to let me trade her car for a '02 Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa to use on the track. It has worked out well and she doesn't even miss her Caddy SLS. I will be at CMP with the Maserati Mar 5 - 6th and then at VIR on Mar 26 - 27th. I am going to register for the VIR, south course with the Ferrari Club - NC on Apr 29 - May 1st and hopefully will get the 360 Spyder out then.

My wife and I get to Winston - Salem frequently because we enjoy driving the car over for dinner about once a week. I don't worry about the odometer or resale. I didn't buy mine to sit in the garage and collect dust. I am sure the service department at FCI loves me by now, I am getting ready to put my second set of rear tires on the car. I have not had enough time to investigate more cost efficient opportunities, I have been too busy driving.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks for the sound byte of the Stebro exhaust system. It sounded really sweet and more like what I was looking for. For some reason, I really like the lower tones as far into the rpm range as possible much better than the higher pitched that I have heard in the sound byte of the Capristo. Nick mentioned three different sound levels for the Capristo, but I am not necessarily looking for quiet or loud decibels, but rather am looking for lower rather than higher tones. I hate to say it but there are so many ricers around this town I would hate for my car to be mistaken for one of those.

Still looking, thanks again for your help.

I hope you are able to find your video clip with Buddy's 360 with the Capristo exhaust. I do not want to eliminate the Capristo exhaust without evaluating everything they have to offer. I don't think the sound byte on their website is a 360, so I may be unfairly judging the sound. Hope to hear from you when you get a chance.

Wife is headed to Palm Beach this weekend (without me!). Seems like a good opportunity for me to get the car on the road, eh?

If the weather is good, drop me an email and we'll do something. There are some outstanding roads due north of Statesville/Winston. I'll be changing oil on Friday night, so I'll be all ready to roll.

    Kindly,
    Daniel

Alas, and I hate to say this, but I am leaving for Tarpon Springs, Florida (the dreaded golf trip, at least that is how I feel now that I have a sweet ride in my garage) on Wednesday and will be there through Sunday at least mid-day. Both of my sons, who are home from school on break, read your reply and offered to join you. Sorry, that isn't happening either.

If the weather is good and you want to get together on Sunday afternoon, I would love it. Would that be good for you?

Robert I can only say that I love the Capristo level 2 which I bought recently from Nicks Forza. He was very helpful and the sound is incredable. The fit and finish is top shelf. Everyone who has heard it give me compliments and there is no comparison IMHO to the other systems I have heard. Will PM you with more info I will be at the barber event march 5 if you would like to hear it at the track Good Luck Buddy

For what it is worth, I have 2002 360 coupe with a Tubi. The sound is great and if you are up at FCI in Greensboro, ask Mark Euell to show you the car.

Thanks for your comments about the Capristo level 2. I won't be able to take you up on your offer at Barber. Hopefully, I can find one a little closer to home. Hope you have a great time at the track and if you get up to NC let me know.

    attebby:

Thanks for your offer. I am going to be at FCI tomorrow and will check out the sound from the tubi.

Robert thanks for the reply. The Tubi sounds great as well as and if you want a little more bass sound at lower rpms the Tubi may be your best choice. Will let you know if I am ever near your area. Good Luck Buddy

    Dad,

The exhaust on the red one is sweet. We should install that exhaust system on the silver one, if you insist on changing it.

You're not allowed to make a decision on this without specifically asking me for my input. Otherwise I'm just going to have to go ahead and bring the silver one up here to school where you can't get to it easily.

Drat. I missed another opportunity to meet you. My car was not ready for me to pick up as planned last Thursday. FCI ended up bringing it to Statesville Friday afternoon. Something goofy with the security system was driving me and them nuts. Looks like they got everything taken care of satisfactorily now. What are you doing this week? My wife is going out of town Tuesday and as long as the roads aren't icy I will probably be out late in the afternoons. Will probably go to the Grecian Corner in W-S for a gyro one evening. We could talk about DIY maintenance and where to get the parts and supplies.

Hi Son. I noticed you replied rather late. I am assuming you are done studying. You have to find the keys first. It was the difference between the two exhausts that lead me to make the original posting.
