My 2003 360 F1 often bucks back and forward in first gear. Driving it smoothly requires too much concentration. It is the most annoying thing about an otherwise wonderful car. Can an upgrade to 2004 firmware cure the problem?

You don't indicate how long you have had the car. I had this problem with my '01 until I learned the "steady pedal pressure" technique which is opposite from everything you know about manual shifting. It takes a little practice. The key is, "steady" and it does not take long to get it right. If it were a design problem it would have been cured between '01 and '04.

PS. If it occurs more when turning from a dead stop more often than not, I am right on.

I've had the car for a month. Steady pedal pressure indeed helps, but even with that the car still bucks, although less. It seems to be a certain range of throttle positions that is prone to bucking.

I just have to get used to it! Thanks.
