Would appreciate some advice. My '02 360 F1 has 90K miles on it now and I've had it 4 years. Transmission needed replacement about 8000 miles ago. Over the last couple weeks I've had a couple incidents where the transmission stays locked in 1st gear, refusing to shift up or to go into neutral, forcing an all effort braking with subsequent stall. Turned off all electrical power for a few minutes and car starts and operates fine, but then same thing happens again. PIS adjusted but did not solve the problem. Any ideas as to what is going on?

    thanks,
    Carl

Does the F1 light on the dash come on or flash?

Why on earth would someone think the PIS adjustment would stop the tranny from "locking in gear"?

You need to give us a little more info, i.e. any flashing lights, lights on, check engine lights?

I predict its in the F1 system.. maybe the bearing in the clutch. The pump not giving enough pressure, a leaking actuator seal, or ECU/Ecu F1 sensor gettin' funky. They put it on an SD2 system and got some data back?

Edit: just read that they replaced the F1 pump last year. Any other work done on it?

No check engine light or tranny light or other indicators.

I may have figured it out. I recently purchased a gadget from the Apple store that goes on the OBD port to monitor driving and engine parameters. The 2 times this happened, it was attached, and it never happened before I got the gadget named "automatic". I'll drive it for a few days without the gadget to make sure the problem does not recur. In the mean time I'd advise against using this thing on your car.

I would be shocked if something plugged into the OBD2 was causing these symptoms (Not saying it's not possible though...especially with Ferrari).
I would lean towards a pump pressure issue, or a clutch position sensor issue. The confusing part is that either of those issues should cause an error light, so I'm hoping that you are correct. Please follow up with the out come.

I've driven it under multiple conditions for 2 days now and no recurrence of the problem, so I'm assuming it did have something to do with the "gadget" in the OBD port. I also reported it to the company that makes it and they are looking into the problem. Thanks all for your excellent advice.
