I recently had a clutch replaced and have noticed that when I'm shifting from a stop and not letting up on the gas that there is a lag between gears. In other words I feel as though the car bogs down and you know how the car lifts up then comes down then lifts up then comes down between shifts - isn't this suppose to be a smooth transition?

Sounds like the PIS was not set correctly.

Or the flywheel was worn, or the throwout is sticking, or clutch thickness when new not set, or a leak....don't jump on the "it's the PIS" bandwagon. There are many causes.

Mike- Get thee to someone competent with an SD2 for proper analysis. Hopefully the guys who replaced the clutch will take some responsibility.

Took it back to the dealer for a check and they adjusted the P.I.S. (no charge). Shifts a lot better now. I think my biggest problem was that I did a few laps in a 430 a few years ago and noticed how nice it shifted. When I purchased my 360 I expected it to work like the 430. I guess I was a little wrong. But I'm happy now - I did all the service 30k (its now at 30120), clutch, and got my first piece of carbon - drink holder!

Isn't the PIS the cheapest to diagnose and "repair"? From what I've heard that's where you start.

PIS is relatively easy to set with the SD2. It can also be set manually.

Dino- Interesting. Did you mean you can set it manually with an SD2 or you can set it manually without an SD2? That would be handy.

Where you start is doing a proper and complete clutch replacement which has become a very rare commodity.

There is but success requires a great deal of luck, hence the software update.

Brian- Sounds like another secret handshake bit of knowledge. Is the trick applicable to all dry plate clutch F1 systems?

No. Ferrari figured out pretty quickly it didn't work except when all the planets were aligned correctly. I would say it is better than nothing but its not. At least a 50/50 it makes things worse. I am almost certain it isn't possible except in 355 and 360 and I don't think it works in late 360 software.

Brian- Thanks. Sounds like they figured out owners did not need another way to shoot themselves in the foot.
