My 360 sometimes skips to N when I cruising either on 4 or 5. When I paddle down to request a lower gear, it jumps to N. This happens frrquently. Can anyone tell me what could it be?

    Please tell us:
    What year car?
    How many miles?
Has the clutch ever been replaced? How many miles ago?
Has the throwout bearing been replaced? How many miles ago?
    Euro car or US car?

The above is important because it could be that the clutch is
nearing its end of life, or that just the PIS needs to be adjusted
by a service center with a SD2 system, or that you have one of
the early throwout bearings that didn't shift smoothly. I'm sure
there could be other possible causes as well, so it's hard to say
more without knowing more about your situation.

My first guess is that this is the Ferrari WRRS kicking in.
That's the Wireless Revenue Recovery System (WRRS) used by
the factory to generate income for the F1 team. It monitors
your bank account waiting for an influx of cash, and transmits
telemetry to your car when the cash level is high enough that
you could pay for a new repair. For 360 owners, it waits a
very long time so it can hit you with a larger repair bill. Check out
the poor 348 owners ... they get nickel & dimed much more
    frequently. Humbly submitted :)

    Miles: 13K
The closest job done was Ring Gear Factory Recall.
Clutch does not slip, and the car runs fine. However, I am aware mooth shifting has never been an asset on the early 360 F1s. Where can I have the clutch adjusted in South Florida without paying 2K (or more) for a cup of coffee surrounded by sparkling new Cavallinos?
    Thanks again.

Forgot to mention, disconnecting the battery to "reset" the computer, will NOT cure the problem.

I recommend having the dealer check the PIS setting. I don't remember if the TCU in the 99 Modenas allowed much adjustment as mine is a MY2001. They should be able to give you better advise than I regarding the throwout bearing. Hopefully your problem will be easy to fix, but my clutch & bearing had to be replaced at approx 15000 miles (I bought the car at 14000 miles). If it is any consolation, I now have 30000 miles on the car and lots of clutch left.

Thanks a lot, Lou. I'll have it checked and adjust the clutch if necessary.

Needs a clutch most likely. At 14,000 miles that is the problem I had, new clutch did the trick.
Also I saw the old one and it was very worn even though there was no slippage.

I test drove a 2001 360 with 13K miles and it did this exact thing. Whether shifting up or down, the car would jump into neutral. For a series of other reasons I didn't buy the car, but in talking with dealer, it was the clutch which needed to be replaced.

And it also goes into Neutral occasionally from steady 1st upon hitting the UP paddle. I will try readjusting first. If probelm persists, then I "submit" to a cluch job.
