whilst in LA, went past a second hand car dealer in La. Cienega Blvd just over 3rd. Blvd and saw a black 360 B and a 360 F1 spider. The black 360 was $110k with 1200miles on the clock and the 360 F1 spider was $120k's with 500 miles on the clock. Does that make you sick. Our cars in aus are 3 times the cost of this.

I wouldn't live in the US, no matter how cheap their cars are.
There is only one place in the world where I have seen a McDonalds with a shotgun toting security guard- Hollywood LA. You can keep it thanks!

Why on earth would you want to live there Looney?

yeh it hurts when an Aussie choice is a 328 GTS and in the states you can buy a 360 spider for the same money.

Still can't work out why it is much difference between different countries?

Could I get an answer please?

    The cheapest I've seen a 355 here is AUD $150k for a '95 Rosso Corsa F355 Berlinetta.

348's are in the low to mid $100k range, 308s around $80k and 328s around $100k.

Dont get me wrong, I know its a place with its share of problems, but Hawaii, is just my cup of tea, and failing that I really like South Florida, Miami & the Keys.

but failing all that My wife and I are contemplating moving to Brisbane or GC. (I love tropical weather, or as close as i can get to it in a reasonable sized city)

and lets be serious, you came to Perth for the Nationals, you saw how boring the place is (it is very nice and clean, and I will probably end up here again later, if i leave), but the backwards mentality that exists in Perth is just not conducive to my needs at the moment :p. Wouldnt you wanna leave?

I think this was discussed with many viewpoints in a previous thread (cant remenber what the thread was, because we never stay on topic here).

I beleive its because firstly theyre more expensive to buy new due to the Govt raping us for taxes, as well as the additional cost of shipping them here.

But i beleive the biggest factor is the "aussie" approach to cars in general. Aussies seem to think that cars are an investment and worry a rediculous amount about resale and therefore keep their commonwhores and falcoon's in good condition to try and get a really 'good' resale, as such used cars here are usually more expensive than in other countries.

If you look around the US, people generally buy cars, and expect them to be worthless after a couple of years and of course the used car market is therefore very cheap in the US, and therefore this transfers across all makes/models etc. In Europe it is a case of strict regulations with annual inspections, heavy wear on cars (in snowy countries, due to corosion) and therefore used car resales there are also not as high as they seem to be here.

but this is just my view

okay the thing i want to know is where does this funny money go? yeah a bunch comes out in the govt-luxury-rape but even excluding that and the extra few $k it might cost to get it here, the prices are still way overinflated. does the manufacturer sit back and say "those idiots will pay this much, so that's what it costs" and pocket the extra, or are the dealers getting it... or what?

if you grew up in Mandurah, i can understand why you would say that (just jokes sorta).

Perth is nice, as i said, its clean, laid back, not too much crime, weather is ok from time to time (has been prety crap this year though), but its just very sleepy.

hey, I was joking - I agree with you!

Mandurah is/was a hell hole, and Perth is only marginally better.

i found it a lot like adelaide, only more spread out and sparse, with more brown than lush green, always sunny (i love rain), no good driving roads close enough, and has a lot more 'bad elements' wandering the inner-burb streets.

thing with adelaide is the inner suburbs are really nice, full of parks, cafe strips, great restaurants/pubs, nice housing... but its when you venture to some of the other areas a few more miles out that you realize that it's only about 10% of adelaide that's not a hole.

Man, you couldnt pay me enough to live in the UK, i'd happily live almost anywhere before living in the UK, but thats just IMO.

    ,

yeah, i wouldnt go into the city at night these days, I felt much safer in Sydney & Melbourne. and there are no half decent roads at all :-(,
