Hi all, i have a small problem with a 2000 360 F1 that won't get out of N, i have been driving it fine today but i went to put it away and the engine lid light lit up on the dash and the car wouldn't stay in gear. I found the micro switch on the lid lock and the dash light is out but still no gears. The gearbox pump actuates as normal but i can't get anything but N, the brake lights are not working by the way, can you advise with this? Many thanks!!

It won't go into gear with the lid up. Haven't tried enough combinations to determine when/how it resets. It also requires the brake being applied to shift into gear.

Hi, yes tried with the brake pressed and with the lid down, at first it would get a gear then click back to neutral but now it won't do anything, just stays in N. The engine lid lock microswitch is ok and the lid open warning light is off on the dash.

    1) Did you try reading the code to see if any (if you have a ODBII code reader)?

    2) Then turning the batt off (for a few mins) then back on to see if that helps? Remember to idle the car for about 10 mins after you turn the batt back on.

If the deck lid is not aligned properly you need to get it adjusted. Sometimes it can be the cable that runs across the back to the connection.

Also, if you are in a real jam and I mean a REAL jam, you can get the car to move forward by holding back the "up" shift paddle and pressing moderatly on the gas, the car will engage and move. However, once you stop it WILL pop back out of gear again and you will need to repeat the process. I make no claims as to what effects are felt on the clutch, I just know it works ask me why!!!

    Good luck!
