Just swapped my 6-speed 360 for an F1 model. I switch on the factory headunit, and the display says "PORSCHE" on start-up. What? Does anybody know how to change this back to the original "FERRARI"? Thanks in advance!
The head unit is made by Becker and is used by both Porsche and Ferrari as the OEM radio. I have never heard of the ability to switch the display between the two. Do you know if the radio was installed by the factory or aftermarket? Maybe someone bought a unit from E-Bay and put it in? Search for the Becker website and give them a call. They usually have an excellent customer service dept. and can probably tell you if you can switch it back.
I imagine some Porsche owner has your Ferrari radio! Who's more pissed you think? LOL since you say it's a factory unit, why not make a Ferrari dealer swap it out? I'd make a big stink about it even if you bought the car privately! Ferrari really shouldn't be happy that their factory radio has a competitor's name on it. Ken
Lol. Yeah, I had a Becker in my Mercedes and there is a way to program that digital display. The buttons are cryptic so check the manual.
I have 2 Becker navi's high speed. I am dying to know how to get that F pop-up. I had a normal Becker CD in my Boxster S and got the Porsche popup indeed. I doubt though that we can change it ourself. At least it's not in the manual.
Very often when the same head unit is used in a number of different cars, the manufacturer of the head unit has a "secret" way of switching from one auto manufacturer to another. Typically it is a combination of buttons, pushed at the same time that opens a sub menu. It is in this sub menu that manufacturer settings can be adjusted. I just dont know which buttons are required. - Ron
The contact for Becker radio unlock codes is Burl Cauthen 888 423 3537 ext 1209 fax 201 327 2084 They probably can help with the secret code to change back to Ferrari. Regards, Ron
If it came that way from the factory leave it. It's little quirks like that that give a car character.
That is funnier than ****.I don't even know on to set my stations up, to be honest I rarely listen to it. Jimmy who is that lady in your Avatar?
On my factory unit, there's also a small white "Ferrari" printed just over the display along with the "Ferrari" that shows up in the display when turned on. Is yours blank?
You know I don't think it has been asked yet but can we see a picture of this? I think it would be a great picture to have. THanks, Pat
this reminds me of when GM was putting chevy engines in cadillacs a number of years ago....I think they called it "homolgation" or something like that...I guess we are seeing "euro homolgation" I wonder how much of a ferrari is shared with prosche (not it's soul...but you won't find that in any parts book)..I say keep it that way..might be traced to a inside practical joke at the F- factory or the becker supplier..years from now at a concours some judge is going to have to know all this arcane stuff.
