I finally got the car, only hitch was the **** transporter dropping it off at the F dealer rather than where he agreed to drop it off at, my home.

So, that cost me a day, temp tag, ins. Cert, etc. (could have at least had it in my garage and “looked” at it, even if I couldn’t drive it until the ins and tags!!!)

So I picked it up, and it’s AWESOME. It’s not quite as quick here at 6k altitude as it seemed in San Diego, which is no surprise, but still a very outstanding machine.

I’m still getting use to the F1. You have so many choices! Sport, ASR (or/ off), Auto, easy throttle, half throttle, lead foot!!!

I like to be able to drive any car I owe smoothly, not all the time, but at least when I want to, so I’m looking for right “inputs” with the F1 that accomplishes that. First impressions, seems like with about a third to half throttle, click the right paddle, and then, when it starts to shift, a slight “let off” of the accelerator, seems like the smoothest gear transition. Your thoughts? Be gentle now, I’m pretty new at F cars!

It’s perfectly clear to me that, when you “mash it”, the F1 will do it way better than I could even think I could do. So I think I know how to do that.

It’s the “tooling around town” with the Mrs. In that sanario, I like it to be smooth.

Any thoughts or ideas, comments, (hey, or even criticisms) are welcome.

Bill (still learning, will post a bunch of pics soon, thanks all- great car!)

Well, from what I've found with my dads 360 F1, is that just after its been started it is a rougher shift, and I think its because the engine and etc just havent warmed up yet. Otherwise, I've found that shifting at about 3,500rpm without moving the foot gives that car the smoothest transition. And ofcourse, the faster you are going the smoother it is. I have also found that the auto mode actually can be a little worse at times. Otherwise, every car has its own little nuances, and I recommend driving it as much as possible. Then you'll just pick up on it naturally, I know it took me a couple times out to get used to it, and I made sure my route had plenty of starts and stops, because the shifts from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 seemed to be the worst.

    Oh, and enjoy it!

    We want pictures!

Drive in sport mode. The shifts are much better in sport mode.

    Don't lift on shifts.

    Enjoy it!

    Bill,

Willis360 is correct. I found Sport to have smoother shifts. For me not letting up on the gas took some getting use to. It was more natural for me to let up when I shifted but I found if I kept the throttle steady (not increase...just steady) it was a smoother shift. Smooth starts take a bit of getting use to. Don't modulate the gas in 1st (even slightly) or you get a real "jerky" experience both physical and emotional. I noticed your car was shipped from San Diego. Did you buy it from the Ferrari Dealer in S.D.?

JunR, not the Ferrari dealer, but a company called Sports Car Company. He sells mostly Ferrari's.

Agree with JunR - sports mode and keep gas steady between changes.

What year is it? I had a 2001 modena and got the dealer to put in one of the most recent transmission ECU's (shortened to TCU by some). The revs at which the clutch engage can be set by the dealer (I have mine very low as my garage leads straight out onto a hill) and the changes were noticeably smoother.

Don't just take my word for it as it was also commented on by my wife in town driving.

I've put a few more miles on it now, and it's starting to "come together". I think once I get used to it, it will be great!
