Doing a track event next month. We are required to have a fire extinguisher on board readily accessible in the cockpit.

Any suggestions on where to locate and how to install would be appreciated. 360 F1 Spider.

    Thanks in advance

In the passenger footwell, along the center tunnel would be my first choice.

This is where Ferrari mounts them when you order the extinguisher option from the factory on both 360's and 430's.

Ferrari installed mine behind the passenger seat as in the footwell the carpet has to be cut.

I had Ferrari install one in my 360 behind the driver on that little ledge. My CS is mounted on the passenger floor.

The easiest mounts are U shaped bracket in passenger footwell connected to the front seat mount bolts. no cutting involved and you can weld it up in about 10 minutes. Remember to use metal quick release straps not plastic so the extinguisher does not become a projectile in your car from a crash.

I put mine behind the passenger seat on the shelf. I was told there isn't a plate under the floor to anchor the brackets in the passenger footwell unless you specified the factory option and that if you mount it where the factory does, you have to remove the brackets to access the battery. But.... the shelf where they mounted it behind the seat is flexing just a little too much for comfort for track events. I really don't need a 7lb projectile flying around the cockpit in a bad crash...... Then again, that could happen anytime now that I think about it.........

My car has a fairly small halon extinguisher mounted on the tunnel between the foot wells. It realy looks pretty cool there. I can post a pic later. The previous owner tracked the car so I suspect that it complies.

P-Factor custom-made me a fire extinguisher mount. They put my extinguisher horizontally in front of the passenger seat with a custom fabricated & mounted aluminum bracket which moves with the passenger seat back and forth

no drilling holes required...probably the best way to mount IMO

    Here's what we're working with.

These look like they'll work fantastically for mounting on a parcel shelf, rear wall, luggage compartment, etc. Still need to play with it, as I pretty much scuffed/scratched one brand new cylinder trying to get the proper fit. (If anybody wants a Halon 1211 2.5# cheaply, PM me... scuffs/scratches are no additional charge!!)

The band is held into the mounting brace with a quick release pin. The whole assembly is billet aluminum, and not for the faint of heart. It is extremely solid, and the appearance is dead sexy. The stain/brushed aluminum matches a Ferrari gear gate beautifully. These have an NHRA approval already from the manufacturer. Pricing TBD.
