Friends: My recently purchased '98 F355F1 came with one fob only. Will a used 360 fob currently offered on EBay serve as a clone fob if I can find somewhere to have this process done? This black unit appears to be identical to mine. Will I need my car's PIN number to have this done? So far, I'm without the PIN but working on finding it. Am first time owner. Have read most 'fob threads' (my head still hurts) - am trying to avoid having to buy ECU/fob set from a dealer etc.etc. Thanks - Macwacker
Do a search on "key fob clone" and you will find tons of information. The result is yes, but you have to clone it, you cannot re-program it.
Thanks Yelcab - will begin reading all info. Do you mean 'yes' to both of my questions, or just 'yes' the 360 fob will work for my purposes? Will I need the VIN for my car?
If the fob looks identical to the black or red fobs used in the 360.. it should work fine. Of note, some porsche FOBs will also work provided they are the same frequency as yours.. I think it's a Bosch Rk115 fob.. but don't hold me to that. You don't need your VIN to have it cloned. "Gobble" on this forum has cloned a few fobs for us. You WILL need to know if your FOB is 315mhz (US and Canadian frequency) or a euro remote (433mhz?). You can open it and look on the silver cylinder crystal and the numbers will tell what frequency.. (search here for number when you find it). What I did.. 1) find another remote with an identical frequency 2) mail it to gobble 3) receive remote and use it as a spare (if you mail it next day.. use fedex, i used usps and it was a pain) Best of luck!
Thanks much vrsurgeon. Just ordered the unit from eBay. Will proceed as you have recommended. Best - macwacker
