Those are Manheim results. They are one of the countries largest dealer auction networks. On top of those numbers there are auction fees, transportation costs to get back to the purchasing dealer and usually prep costs as cars don't end up at auction for no reason. That's not to say that some great cars don't pass through these auctions but you have to be a dealer to participate.

Ya I know manheim there the bigguys especially with there highline auction , they have a no hassel return and door to door service , but it still seems high , Forza mag has 99'360's starting at 75k retail in there price guide , there is no room for mark up . I flipped a 05' corvette last summer book was 25k ( when book meant something ) sold it wholesale for 31k was on the lot for $36,900. . So in theroy 10k over book . And this is a corvette , Im guessing the mark up on a F-car is more , high overhead.....sitting on product longer..slow turn around . Thoughts ?

Keep in mind that a dealer will buy a Manheim F-Car for no other reason than to put it on his lot.

    "Yessir, we deal Ferraris"

One Porsche/Audi/Maserati/RR dealer has three 430s and one 360 which he rotates around his lots for no other reason than to attract walk-in traffic! His Turbo sits next to the door but his Rossa 430S sits on the corner of his lot on the pedestal.

Also cars rotate geographically depending on local demand and season. There is no better price indicator than Manheim-the numbers are real, not a bunch of asking prices and there is volume. In terms of dealership markups, much depends on the nature of the dealership. New car dealers, even if not Ferrari but other highline, will generally offer cars that have been better prepped and are of better integrity, with higher markups and will sit on them longer. They have too much at stake with their reputation to intentionally sell something that is not right and will wholesale that type of car through auction( Manheim). In this new age of the internet and eBay, there is a new breed of independent dealer that will buy auction cars and immediately try and flip them at a public auction site, like eBay, with much lower markups- their whole game is volume and moving product through the pipeline. In many cases there is no "showroom" or salesman, just a building full of cars. I have seen many cars on eBay that I haved tracked back to a Manheim auction to see what what originally paid.

Agreed. There are a couple of large Ebay dealers in the south that sell hundreds of cars per month. A friend of mine locally bought an M6 from one of them for a full $12,000 less than other similar cars were selling. He went to Texas, drove the car home, and we did a very detailed examination of the car (and so did a local BMW dealer), and it was a solid car. The place just does not mark them up much. With a Ferrari this may be a higher risk, but if you get into something like a 360 for $20,000 less than comparable examples, that leaves a lot of money on the table to get almost everything done service wise if you wanted to once you returned home.

Nice WHere did that one sell at? i think quoting auction prices as a basis for what the cars are going for is a little skewed. Thats like sayin " I saw a gorgeus blonde on Sunset last night at 3 AM and she wanted $150.00 when we all know 3 is the going rate. Get it in perspective buddy!

Well said, Meeyatch1, to these people it's a transaction, X $$ out, Y$$ in they could care less if it was a Ferrari.

Ferraris are commodities, folks need to get this screwed into their heads. Once you get over the hype, and treat it as one, then you can start to make avaialble to yourself great deals.

Or maybe even sell yours :)

I sold my 02 360 spider less than 24 hours ago so now I'm interested in another summer car - likely another 360 spider. Can someone with Manheim web access post recent sale results for 360 spiders ?
