Hello Everyone. I had the first long road trip in my 93 t Valeo. For those who haven't realized the pure functional beauty of the Mondial, check this out. Me and 3 sons, back packs, 3 sleeping bags, car cover, brief case and few tools fit into front and read boot. It was pure
joy being able to take my boys up to see my family on a 2 hr top down road trip in a Ferrari.
For that alone, make this a truly unique and fantastic family car.

The trip was a mix of PA turnpike and back Pocono roads. The boys loved it and I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. One thing I realized during this extended time in the car was how much she WANTS to be driven. It seems to love the higher revs through the winding roads and longed to have her legs stretched. Safety and common sense with the boys aboard prohibited me from pushing her too much, but i could tell she wanted more.

The car ran great and through some rough calculations it appears I got around 16 MPG which was quite surprising.

I had a quirky Valeo issue or too with some rough shifting when she was real hot after highway driving, but I have some messages into our resident Valeo experts for advice. However, she didn't let me down or leave me stranded.

The only thing that could have made it better was 5 seats to enable my wonderful wife to join us. But work prevented her from the first part of the trip only to join us later. Oh well perhaps a date night is in order with a long drive to an out of the way restaurant!

For all you non-Mondial fans, consider sharing your love for these great cars with your family and friends in a world-class 4 seat car !

    Cheers

One thing about owning these limited production vehicles is "Exotic Car Anxiety!" Turns out to be a good thing. Every time I drive the car there is always that little devil on my left shoulder with a subtle grin. Never mind in two years and going on 12,000 miles on my 1986 Ferrari I have never once been towed in. Never once failed to start and drive away.

This can not be said of my Sister's 2009 Buick. Towed in twice with equal or higher maintenance costs in the same period of time!

Any chance you had a deer strapped to the hood on the way back?

Congrats, nice story. My wife, daughter and I love driving the mountain roads of VA and WV. The low gearing of the Mondial not only make it more fun to drive but it actually feels faster going uphill.

I assure you it IS faster going uphill. I have this on good authority from the police officer who gave me a 4 point ticket. Four points is not a good thing. I think it goes away in another year or two.
