Only just got home. Had a great day, and yes it was nice to see Ferraris at the pointy end. Many thanks to FF for showing me around aspects of the 360GT, and for putting up with my silly questions! It was a pretty tough day for Phil's team, but they soldiered on admirably. NB, I couldn't take pics because my bloody camera played up. :(

Just some random observations: One thing that struck me was how (relatively) quiet the 430CHs are. Also, I would have loved to have seen Bryson's 360CH make it out for the races I was there to see, but it didn't venture on to the track for the last race, after only completing one lap (I think) of the second race. A real shame; would have been cool to see a 360CH out there. Finally, I really liked the PI go-kart track; as far as kart tracks go, that would have to be the best one I've driven on. Next time, I get kart 12, FF! :D

    What a weekend it was...

All evidence pointed to an anti Allan witch hunt...

from scruitineering where they lost our logbook, yet denied they ever had it (but then found it of course), right down to accusing Allan of jump starting a safety car re-start... that HE was leading...(this gave us an un challengable drive through, which handed Teulan the lead) utter BS from all management, and total hypocrasy when watching other races on the same weekend.

They also imposed a shift from level 2 driver seeding to level 5 in one change (this is ADDITIONAL to success ballast), but then backed down to level 4.

    Total BS all round.

A hard one to argue also is that good ol' JT did drive superbly in his new 430C to win the wet race that Allan got black flagged on, BUT he passed Crick under safety car (witnessed by 15+ people on our pit monitor...).

If it had been anyone else, we would have protested, but we were under a witch hunt anyway, and JT did a bloody job.

The 430 wets are super soft, which is why he struggled in the second wet race, as his tyres were shot after the first race.

In the final wet race, Darcy Russell also drove superbly to pass Allan and win from mid field.... but he was on Dunlops in a control Michelin category. i think the rule books are STILL being analysed right now. We haven't got official confirmation of that result yet.. AFAIK anyway.

Darcy's Viper has 100BHP more than Cricks.... and to show the BS of the category management..... they penalised Allan down to 8000 rpm..... because he left the Vipers behind at the start..... HAHA. Darcy has 300BHP more than Allan, and Romans factory standard AU XR8 has more torque.

Allans speed comes from his cunning and skill, and the frustrations from jumping out of winning an FIAGT3 race in europe, to pi55ing around with a clown act down here is totally embarrassing and pointless.

This category has potential, but they have NO IDEA how to exploit it.

peepee/carl ... who should I write to for the newsletter articles currently.... this one needs to go to print with the full story...

    Yeah, the karts were great..

I got a bigger satisfaction from getting FTD (on a mixed wet dry track :D) at the karts as I did from winning the GT round.

well Allan appears to be a nice guy...so I wonder who rubbed people up the wrong way to provoke the organisers/officials to do this? hmmmm...let me think...is there a contentious, person in Allan's team?

either of us. we don't do many newsletters though.

yeah, nice try peepee. But you haven't seen Allan when he races.... he's got race mentality.

(edit... oh, and thats not what you said about that day at Winton was it... you old hypocrite you...)

And, as you should know, I'm re-active in conflict, I rarely start any real arguments (but I do like to stir things up on a low level :D).

I was the fastest car winning races. I had nothing to worry about until they started the BS.

I think CAMS should organse one of their fact finding missions to Europe to understand how a safety car system really works. It's not even limited to one particular race director, I've seen them screw it up in V8's, F3 and now, most baltantly, in GT's.

When a flabbergasted Simonsen commented that he ran the restart exactly the same as he had in Bahrain twice. The reply was that "this isn't Barhain".

All they had to do was add a "son" to the end of the sentence, replace the accent with a Southern USA version and I could understand the mentality.

    But not here..............

    Some more...

Darcy did drive superbly... on his DUNLOPS!! It's a control Michelin category, so I think he'll be DSQ'd. It's a shame, because he DID do a good job, and his crew in getting the car home!! It's still at hearing AFAIK.

Teulan did a great job too.... BUT he passed Crick under safety car (witnessed by 15+ people on our pit TV) before the race restart that got Allan black flagged, AND it was Teulan that was more than 5 car lengths away from Allan at the start so if the safety car pass on Crick didn't get him black flagged, the 5 car lengths rule should have!!

The 19" Wets on the 430C are super soft. JT used them all up in his winning race, hence his disappearance in the final race. Dave Stevens wet tyres were physically sizzling in parc ferme. Totally toasted while Allans were fine and the blocks all still have sharp edges.

But, to be fair, Allan is cunning, and his clever dummy was bought (and some) by JT, which promoted the big lead.

Allan had to be cunning at the re-start, as the car was 23mm over ride height benchmark (YES, almost a frikkin inch) , weighted 77 kg extra for Race 1 win (YES, this 1100kg GT2 car weighs 1400kg in Aus GT with driver and fuel), and the revs were back to 8000 from 9000!!! AND the poor thing was breathing through a hole smaller than a camels arse in a sand storm!!!!

He needed to try to get a head start to protect himself down the long straight.

There is contention over what is the control line.... I "hear" the rules say that the start/finish line is the control unless otherwise stated (such as Bathurst, where it's the bridge mid grid). At PI, a Bathurst rule should be applied as the pit entry is so far from the S/F line, but I can't be arsed to read all the crap from all the different worldwide categories and what could we hope to get anyway??

This weekend was a witch hunt against Allan (same race director as his ute racing escapades I think).

    Bottom line...

Allan told to do a 1.35.50 minimum... did a 1.35.509
Allan told to win... had Win, 5th, 2nd pending 1st. Round won regardless.

Job done and up yours to the series. Ted is burned now. I don't think we'll be back.

Fark, how/why so many parity penalties? Is the car even safe setup like that?

Sounds like the same crap they pulled on the 550GT. Wasn't that braking all sorts of stuff due to the silly weights imposed upon it?
