I seem to recall an old thread by Gothspeed.. where he installed 360 headers on a 355..? I beleive they were 360 challenge headers.. this has come to mind.. cause there is a set of Fabspeed 360 headers for sale in the sale section. but 360 headers dont seem to have the dual outlets.. required for the 355 to pass exhuast via the y-pipe to the bypass.. so im confused how he would have set this up with 360 headers..while retaining the ypipe.. in addition.. I have a Euro 355.. it does not have a TC at the bypass neither the 3rd cat ecu. only 2 TC and cat ecu's. for each Cat. not that I would do it.. but Im thinking.. it could be possible to delete the y-pipe completely.. on a Euro car.. and plug up the top inlet on the exhaust.. then install set of 360 Fabspeed headers.. directly to the cats.. and thats it.. O2 sensors plug up as normal to the cats etc.. the ECu shouldnt notice a difference..? I dont think there are any o2 sensors at the ypipe..? in addition, currently my bypass is always open.. theres no TC up there anyways..and the ecu has not thrown any CEL's.. could be an interesting setup..
Are the outlet angles/clamp ring fitting of the 360 headers that interface to the main cats identical?
The 360 headers are used to eliminate the y-pipe. They're not compatible with the stock exhaust system.
When Gothspeed did that he changed the whole exhaust system to eliminate the secondary pipes/Y pipe. The rest was custom. That is what he does. He was going for absolute max flow and simplicity.
As mentioned, it can be done but keep in mind the y-pipe is the main contributor of the distinct F1-ish sound. Run 360 headers or similarly a dual valve Capristo and it will change the sound quite a bit, if that matters to you.
ok I found the thread by Gothspeed.. he used a set of 360 CS headers.. and the rest was pretty much custom.. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/240490-gothspeeds-new-355-monster-flow-exhaust-completed-pass-valve-history.html
