I just got a 99 360 this week and reading about the heat exchanger problems has me worried. Has anyone replaced the stock heat exchanger with something like this?

or maybe just a standard air/oil cooler like this?

Obviously the water/oil cooler has the benefit of heating up the gearbox oil quicker, at the expense of more complicated plumbing.

I have all the parts ready to do the conversion to a setrab cooler. The fittings at the tranny were hard to figure out but got the bypass hose . Just need to mock up a spot on THE DRIVER side near the air tube .

Super cool. Thinking of doing something like that. Might just replace the factory heat exchanger during this major service though and continue to do so at each major service until I possibly decide to do exactly what you are doing. Good luck with the conversion.

Are you doing a standard air/oil seatrab?

I assume your cooler is AN fittings, what adapters did you need for the trans lines?
