Anyone have any idea what may be leaking from my 2000 360 F1? I think the leak is hydralic fluid. It is right under the center of the engine towards the back of the car. Cant really tell because of the cover under the car. Any ideas? It doesn't seem to be much but I dont want to ruin the car. I was told by the dealer that it needed a new clutch. It has 30k miles. I just had the belts changed but they wont give me any info on the leak other than it needs a clutch. Frankly my experience hasnt been very good with the dealer.

Probably from the F1 transmission or possibly the steering fluid. It could be coming from any number of locations. I suspect you'll need to remove the undertray in order to identify just where exactly it's coming from but you know that already don't you?

    Good luck.

Isn't there a block in that area that gives problems and is traditionally replaced by a Hills unit - several threads - sorry cannot recall part name

In Texas you have choices. Don't give money to someone who will not communicate any more than to tell you what number to write on the check. Get someone else to look at it, diagnose it and estimate it. It is really that easy and is what you have every right to expect.

Thanks for all the help. I'm thinking its F1 fluid. It's not a lot. I just didn't like the dealer telling me that I needed a new clutch and BAMMMM!!! another $5000.

What's the color of the leaking liquid? Red? If it's red, you have to deal with a F1 hydraulic leak (or steering hydraulic system but it's obviously not located at the rear of the car).

Ouch, its a light pink color and is definitely in the rear of the car.

Could still be either steering or transmission fluid. Anything dripping down can travel along the underside of the tray before it drops out on the floor so if you cannot identify the leak from above there really is nothing else for it but to remove the tray and then see where the fluid drops and then go searching. Could be something very simple and if you have a jack or two and a couple of axle stands you can at least do the investigation and diagnosis bit yourself with a bit of research on the forum.

    Good luck.

Have you been topping up on F1 clutch fluid lately. I checked the dip stick and it looked a little bit low so I poured in about 2 dl and took the car out for a spin. Day after there was quite a big pool on the floor. Seems like I gave her a little bit to much to drink and she was sick during the night.

if the color is redish it is F1 fluid which would be right behind the right rear tire if it is over filled (since the system will purge out the excess fluid). If its a amber color and in the middle it would be the engine, trans, or sump. If its redish and in the middle powersteering up by the pump otherwise there are two connectors by the passenger fuel tank. Make sure you take belly pan off to really figure out where the leak is coming from since there are several opening in the belly pan which could skew where its truly coming from.

Thanks for all the replies/help. I have literally never topped off F1 fluid or anything else for that matter. The car has always driven great. I have never taken off the underbelly shroud. I will do that to chcek. It just getting worse with time. A sincere thanks to all that have replied.
