If you have read any of my recent posts you will see I am planning on a purchase between now and the end of the year. If I can be patient I'd like to take advantage of the pricing in the winter months. Anyway, my heart is pretty set on a 360 however I can not help to think about some other choices. Like a Gallardo, 996 GT2, or a 997TT. I checked with my insurance company Geico and requested quotes. I thought it was interesting what they gave me. I am a 32 year old male with 1 2pt speeding ticket on my record 9 months ago and one not at fault accident.

I was factoring in that I would replace my 03 E55 which is not the only vehicle on my policy with Geico.

    Here were my results:

04 Gallardo they do not cover. (can't imagine how crazy that may be eek!)
    02 GT2 = rates increase $753 over a 6 month period.
    08 997 TT = rates increase $1196 over a 6 month period.

    00 360 = rates decrease $156 over a 6 month period.

I know it's the oldest car listed and has less HP than all of the cars on the list including my E55. But, a decrease in insurance cost really??? I actually had to send the request to Geico for further review on both the 360 and Gallardo. Anyone else experience this change when you insured your 360?

I'm surprised Geico will insure any of those cars, they are auto nazis. They called me and asked if they could provide a quote. I listed my cars and they called back and said they would not insure any of my cars but my ML55 tow vehicle. I told them to p--- off as I don't like the idea of discrimination based on the vehicle (my driving record is excellent). I insure with Hagerty and pay about 2k a year on stated value policies to insure my '02 360 Spider, '81 BB512, '76 308GTB Vetro, '09 Caterham R500, two '59 Giulietta Veloces, and comprehensive on a '68 Maserati Mexico and a '69 GTV. That price is for everything and they are great to deal with.

Are the rates you all are posting conditional on mileage? I would think it would be less expensive if the policy limited mileage, such as less than 3-4000 miles per year.

I have had no luck getting decent rates on my 07 430. Hagerty says they only insure collector cars driven mainly to shows and club events. They say mine is too new and driven too much. I estimated mileage around 2500-3000 miles/yr! Chubb was double what I pay now.

I have Allstate and they have insured all of my cars both past and present. While I don't remember the exact amount I believe the Gallardo and Diablo were in the neighborhood of 2000 a year. My H3 was on the policy as well and there was no mileage restrictions on the exotics. This might be higher than what some guys are paying however when my Diablo caught on fire they paid the full amount without any hesitation.

That's not correct. You can drive them anywhere you want, but if you have a multi-car collector policy, they do want to know you have a daily driver as well (which they will not insure). I use my tow vehicle to satisfy that constraint. They currently insure my 360, and I am fairly certain they would be happy to add a 430 for me, although I have not tried to do so.
