I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a little guidance. My 2000 360 bucks in first gear and I am now noticing it in 2nd gear. The accelerator is real touchy. You have to have special feel to give it gas and not have it buck. Car has 19,000 miles on it. I would appreciate anyone's ideas on problem and/or fix. Thanks.

Are you new to the car & is it I assume a 6 speed...

If both are yes, you will get past this.... its a different feel you need to get used to. Once you master the feel of it, the bucking will be gone...

Sure something may be at issue, but if new to you, I would guess its you. The car is "drive by wire" if you are going slow & your foot wobbles at all, it gets magnified..

Sometimes the driver unknowingly amplifies the bucking by trying to modulate the throttle.
Steady inputs, not lifting and then reapplying throttle, but keeping even an foot pressure on the throttle keep the bucking from getting worse.

The gas pedal is very sensitive, expecially in first gear. If it's a new car to you, you'll get used to it. If it's not new to you and this is something that just started developing, it could be clutch slippage. You may want to try switching back and forth between sport and reg mode as the clutch engages differently and one might be smoother for you. There's one corner near my house where the car always bucks for me. Just the perfect combination of an uphill start rounding a corner with an inconveniently placed bump in the road that usually causes my foot to lurch.

I've found that flooring it is one cure :)

Same thing with me, I went around a corner once with loads of people looking at car and it was bucking like a horse - it must have been funny to see. Driver not car, you will get used to it.

this has happened to me in my 6 speed.... gotta be funny as all hell for people on the outside watching LOL

Just have be real smooth on the throttle, especially in 1st gear. Upshift if needed.

After ready these posts I feel much better. When I first got my 6 speed, I really assumed I was the worst driver in the world. I was embarrassed to take a friend for a ride. Within a short time, you will work out the bucking. Good luck and enjoy.

I have noticed that as well in a stick. I presume that it doesn't happen with F1 because the clutch is slipped automatically by the computer.

thanks all - i failed to mention that it is the F1 transmission - i've had car for awhile so am used to it - but its a pain. i figure that's either how the car is - or i may have clutch slippage - possibly cam belt (i think there is a cam belt) and it is supposed to be removed every three years. I also understand they upgraded softwear in 2002 - I wonder if I can have this upgraded softwear installed in my 2000? THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Some bucking is not out of the norm if you aren't careful about how you apply the throttle. Takes some time to get used to. However, frequent bucking can mean that a service center with an SD-2 computer needs to re-adjust the PIS setting for your clutch. It gets out of whack as the clutch wears.

always come to a complete stop and then you'll find the bucking goes away. the car will buck if the car is rolling slowly below 8mph and you gas on it.

If you feel bucking when you shift the car (most noteable in a F1) it very well could be the transmission mount has gone bad allowing the motor to rock. Have it many times and with a new mount the bucking is gone. It is hard to see if the mount is torn (bad) without taking the airboxes off and other parts. Try to get a mirror and see if you can see any tears in the rubber mount. If there are i would suggest replacing it as the bucking will only get worse and will cause the engine mounts to fail sooner.

Also i've seen on a 430 challenge car where the clutch had basically disintegrated (they have 8 pucks and 5 out of the 8 were missing) and the car would buck from if moving from a dead stop. So very well could be a clutch problem.

my car is an F1, but I had the bucking problem a couple times. Mostly when I tried going low speed in first gear. Per the manual, it says to use second gear for tooling around parking lots, traffic, etc.

I just use first gear for taking off. If I see the slightest hint of having to stop/traffic/whatever, I put it into second and the car is much happier. Slowing down with the engine only in first gear after accelerating is a real problem do not do it.
