Yesterday I put my car to the audio shop to get aK40 radar detector And laser jammer installed. They just called me as the key is stucked in the cylinder and cannot be removed. Any suggestions? If no solution do I have to buy a new cylinder at Ferrari? How much will it cost ? A problem with the former fobs and new keys?
1) I would tell them to stop what ever they were doing immediately. 2) Head down to the shop in person with your iphone. 3) Take pictures of the key stuck in the cylinder. 4) Then examine it. Is the key all the way in? Can you gently turn the key? You might try some WD40 down the key to help lubricate it if the new key has some metal roughness on it and gently try to prise it out. Any new work done on it. Ricambi carries them with a call. I suspect its spensive' Sold with a new set of keys.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree... or, like father like son... This happen(s)/(ed) to practically all Alfa Romeo Milanos of the late 80s The cure for the Alfa: new ignition switch. Difference: for the Alfa it was < $100, for the 360...? Edit: For the Alfa, I once disassembled the lock and it was a broken spring that caused the issue. Jes
Weird the key can turn a little bit but not enough to start the car and cannot be taken out. A guy from locksmith came at the audio shop and could not do anything. I have to change the part which come with 2 doors locks , the only one found is at a ferrari dealer in Philadelphia , i ask the guy to call ricambi but they were already closed. any idea if they are open on saturday. Part costs around 550 bucks but ferrari told the audio shop owner that it takes between 7 to 10 hours to change everything! Funny thing ( not really) the new system comes with only one key.................
Assume you wiggled the steering while trying to remove the key? The column often locks and the key is difficult to remove without moving the steering wheel back and forth the small amount it will move.
We tried everything . I retried this morning impossible to take the key out. So we ordered the part. I was told not common but not a rare occurrence.
Have you considered removing the lock with the key and bringing it to a locksmith? They should be able to take the pins from the original and reky the new lock to match the doors and glove box.
That happened to me a few years ago in my 308, was stuck, in barrel, what saved me was using Powdered graphite, it's the traditional material for lubricating pin tumbler locks.
I am going to try the Powdered graphite on monday morning and will call a locksmith manager if it does not work. Thank you for your help.
