I have searched the forum and can't find any threads on the pros & cons of test pipes. I am buying a Larini and for another £350 can get test pipes which I am very tempted by. My queries are:

1} Will the engine need adjusting in any way for the removal of the cats or will the computer say 'yes'?

2} Leaving aside any legal issues, are there any cons to test pipes?

3} The power increase claimed for a sports exhaust and test pipes seem surprisingly high - Larini mention 17bhp for the exhaust and 19bhp for the test pipes - if the claimed 400bhp for a 360 is correct thats a 9% increase - does anyone have a view on this?

I have tried test pipes on my 360 (for track use only), and the only con is the check engine light. There was a noticeable power increase, more sound, and less heat under the engine lid. The check light will come on indicating catalytic converter inefficiency. You can reset it and it will come on in about 100 miles. it doesn't bother me much as I know why it's on.

I cant comment on the power increase as my car had a Larini with pipes when I bought it. You will get a cel which can be corrected. The sound is fantastic! I get comments all of the time on how good the car sounds.

I have ordered a Larini sports exhaust for my CS. It'll arrive in 2 weeks.
My experience with Larini has been good. I had it on my Gallardo SE. Not only is the sound fantastic the performance increase on the low end is significantly noticable.

I had a chat with Neil, the Larini engineer before placing the order and he assured me that it wouldnt be a problem with the exhaust. Test pipes i had on a 355 but thats another story.

I just did the Larini sport exhaust system and test pipes on my client's 360 last month. It is the most incredible sound you will ever hear and I swear there is more power in the bottom end. The car is transformed.

The CEL came on and we tried all kinds of tricks to turn it out (bungs to move the O2 sensor out of the stream, OBD sims).......none worked for more than 2-400 kms.......so I am having Heiko at HG Parts remap the ECU for more power and to turn out the CEL.
