Anyone know what size or type I would have to get to mount a rear license plate?
Mine was actually set up with sheet metal screws into the aluminum body. I tried to switch to something more elegant, but cound not get a wrench in place to hold a nut, so I had to continue with the sheet metal screw solution. I am thinking about using a drywall moly-bolt or some other drywall solution when the sms solution fails, as it eventually will.
I had the screws holding my plate back out during a run from LA to Vegas. Luckily, I was with some other Fcar owner's and we all had walkie talkies so someone let me know my license plate was only hanging on by one screw. I replaced the screw when I got to Vegas (thanks Wynn Ferrari,) but it turns out the hole was stripped. I ended up using small machine bolts, some washers and 10mm nylon nuts (I think that's the size) which go through the fiberglass bumper since it looked like the original screws went into the bumper. Kind of a pain to remove to update the DMV sticker with the license plate frame, but no chance of losing my license plate anymore.
