Just as a re-cap.... bad batteries in the siren-unit will make the little red light stay on while driving....what other symptoms are there too???? I'm gonna bust mine open this weekend.....
That's interesting, because I never heard the 3/4 chirps in mine. Maybe different versions produce different results!
I today received communication from Bosch indicating that the alarm part was made just for Ferrari (I doubt this highly, and I will continue to search for other users), and that Ferrari had decided that the part was not to be serviceable! Well, my cyniscism is apparently correct-keep the service departments busy. I am trying to get version information on the part, and you would think I was asking for the key to Ft. Knox! Bottom line is that we are all very fortunate to have the wizards available on this board to render aid and assistance or is that to serve and protect? Well, whatever it is, keep the good knowledge flowing. Boy, if Bosch knew Bruce was selling replacement batteries we'd all be in trouble!
Steve, I only signed on in Jan, perhaps in two years I might have a similar number of posts to yourself, but one thing is for certain, whatever the number, they will be knowledgeable.
I just got my 2001 550 back from my dealer ande now the siren does not chirp, but the red led seems tro work as it should. I took the car back and they said that the batteries were bad and they temporarely installed a new sire to show me. After reading the topic on this board, I have serious doubts about the diagnosis. There are 3 wires connected to the siren, I assume that 2 are for power. does anyone have a Theory Of Operation on the siren, my service ,manual is no help. john.
While we're on the subject of little red lights.......... The little "light" (?) underneath the drivers side mirror - what is that? And what is the light on the front fender for? I'm tired of looking like an idiot when people ask me and I don't know...
Clearlink, You may need to shut off the battery power at the battery switch for a few minutes, and then power back on. Then run the car at idle for 10 minutes with nothing else on. A guess that with the work done your alarm could be out of synch.
Was I smoking crack or did I read somewhere that Ford of all people have a siren unit that's a direct exchange for the Ferrari one for was fraction of the cost?
GM, not Ford. But FerrariFobs.com has a siren for $395. https://www.ferrarifobs.com/online-store Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
