Had the Keys sitting on the dash and after a couple of minutes the Car Alarm chirped 4 times, armed and Locked the dooors with the keys inside. Now I'm Locked out and there is no spare key (middle of moving) Waiting for a locksmith to return a call, but I leave little hope in any body locally being able to jimmy a 360. Searched the threads, and it seems that there is so,me problems with the alarm system sometimes becoming cognicent and defending the car agains phantom would-be intruders. Getting back in does not seem to be a do-it-yourself job.

    Very helpful reply there????

Rubino most newer cars have an automatic locking system. If you unlock the car without opening a door it will re-lock itself within a minute or so.

I opended the door and set the key on the dash, but did not start it. It then re-armed and locked itself. Maybe it's possessed. Locksmith on the way with a slimjim. Suggestions welcome.

:D I couldn't help myself it was just too funny.

Anyway about the locksmith, make sure he uses some kind of wedge between the window and the door seal so he can see what he's doing. You don't want him just fishing blind inside the door, because he can grab the wrong thing. Not on my 348 but on another car, the guy did what I just warned you about. He ended up pulling the cable, which is attached to the opening leaver, to open the door from the inside the car, out of the clip. You had to reach outside to open the door because he busted the clip that holds it in place. So I had to tear appart the door to fix it so that it worked from the inside again.

I know a Porsche Boxter has a timer it will automaticly lock on. I'm lucky with my car from 1986, not a worry for me.

Has it done this before? Just you've never had it happen with the keys inside?

First time it's ever locked itself. Maybe it wanted to sit home today, Scheduled to drive to The Ferrari Dealer for Fluid changes and track inspection. My dog shakes when it's going to the vet as well. Never can figure out how it knows?

My GD TDI Jetta locked my keys in when I closed the trunk. What are these FotherMucking engineers thinking...

That's why I NEVER leave keys in a actuator-locked (electronic) car. Some of them automatically do it when battery voltage falls below mean (or is disconnected) as a security measure. Ask me how I know...

Okay, how do you know? Personal experience or helping out clients that have left their keys in their cars?

Personal experience. Alfa 164, remove the battery cable in the trunk and BAM! Doors lock and siren goes off! What a mess.

It would make sense though, with all of the ECU preferences programming available for the new cars (specifically BMW) that if battery voltage falls below a certain point (or is disconnected or triggered by the alarm system), the locks will engage as an antitheft measure. <grin> I'm sure the 360 could do that...

Final result was 7 hours of waiting for a locksmith who was willing to work on a Ferrari. 4 guys took a pass or were no-show's! Took less than 5 min to use the pro-version of a coat-hanger to slip in the window and pull up the door lever. {$65 plus tip.} Read the manual and it is supposed to do this! Stupid Car! If I want the doors locked then I will lock them! Too much "German- Think" in an Italian car for my taste.
