360 Maintenance costs after 30k

    I am looking at 360's coupes that have just had their 30k mile service done. What are the other intervals and approx costs to have it serviced from there by a dealer?

    I am wondering if the costs increase as the car gets older or decrease..assuming I own the car from 30kmiles to about 75k miles.

    if the car is properly maintained.. 30k may as well be 10k.. the engines themselves should last 200k miles if properly maintaned

    feom 30k to 75k I wouldn't expect a heck of a lot to fail... at least no more than an M3 or anything else that is high performance..

    These cars are not unicorns.. they are well built cars built in the thousands.. there should not be a large concern, the high mileage ferrari bias is just that. a bias..

    I owned a 360 6 speed coupe. That model requires a belt change, a fluid change that can be expensive. If you have paddle shifter they can also be expensive mostly because a dealer has to do an F1 clutch. This cuts out for the most part the smaller repair shops with less overhead and therefore are less expensive.

    I honestly do not know how long these engines last but I would not want to push my luck on a high milage car. I expect they can be very expensive to do a top overhaul just to start simple.

    If that is the way you must go I would try for a six speed to help on maintence cost and be sure the belts have been changed recently. The good news on a 360 is you can excess the belts thru the back seat.

    The highest milage 360 I have personaly seen was 17000 miles and it was still a strong car without problems. I think the car you discribe would be okay.

    17,000 miles on a 360 that has NOT been tracked is barely broke in. Read how well these cars start running over 30,000 miles. Other than an exhaust manifold pre-cat issue you should have no worries (if regular maintenance belt, clutch when due, fluids etc..). Do not think a 360 is junk after 30,000 miles as many would have you believe..

    You see for years there was this common illusion that 308/328/348 etc.. all were only driven for a few thousand miles in their lives, everyone was & still finds 20,000 mile examples all day long... hmm why you ask? because 1 simple plug can disconnect the odometer from showing true miles.. sure everyone denies it because theres is original miles, why look at the paper trail (gee, if it can be disconnected as easy as a lamp in your house from the wall, can it not be reconnected as easy.. yes) Not accusing anyone of this, just flat out saying its common. Evidently the 360's and modern Ferraris can not be tampered with as easily.

    Why do you think people are starting to see 360's with 10's of thousands of miles= OMG Ferraris being driven past 20,000 miles - Has this feat ever been accomplished before???!!!

    so, you see- these cars are ROCK SOLID and miles IF maintained is kind to them as with any other car. If you track a car hard for its life sure, you will experience more premature failures as with any car.. if its driven as a daily driver, MAINTAINED,Loved & not thrashed every minute of operation - these cars will see 200,000 miles.

    Do not get caught up in the I need a car with 5000 miles on it else the car is going to blow up & cost me $100,000 to repair!!! Find a loved car, with service history, drive her & look her over top to bottom - you can tell if she has been abused/neglected, Its easy to tell how OCD a owner is by the condition of the car, dirty, parts inoperative, tar interior, carpet worn, leather worn, dirt on engine, oil seepage, inside of wheels clean, etc... Find a seller with OCD and you will find a great car, with great service records- regardless of miles. Do a PPI & you will find a perfect example for you.

    Sure the unexpected can happen. Look at a marriage & divorce...

    I would agree with everything that Chrmer3 says. After looking at many, many 360s the only conclusion I could draw was that a significant number of the low mileage cars that I viewed personally must have lead incredibly hard lives, simply going on the condition of the interior and body work, relative to the miles shown on the clock. Ferrari are very mileage sensitive, year on year a lot of these cars do not appear to do many miles and residuals are protected. Guys, and gals, you don't have to be a genius to work out what is going on here... I ended up buying a 25K mile 03 car. It was in by far the best condition i'd seen (i'd avoided the ultra low milers as you're often just buying trouble), these cars need to be used. Wear and tear wise my cars condition is comparable to similar mileage 911's i've owned and it continues to improve the more it is used. Take a look at cars for sale in Germany to see what sort of mileages Ferraris will cover. Buy with your eyes open, on condition and maintenance and take mileage with a pinch of salt.

    why the capital letters on a car that hasn't been tracked? While my ferrari hasn't as I have a dedicated race car, I get annoyed with people focusing on this. If the car is tracked, and temps are all within spec, then it really isn't a big deal. Unless it is 30,000 track miles, it really shouldn't be a decision criteria. A car that is street driven can just as easily have over rev or over heat issues. I'd honestly think more so as most track oriented owners actually know something about cars and will watch the vitals...

    just my 2 cents...

    Hell I put 37,000 miles in a Testarossa in three years, zero problems.
    A 328gts with about 67,000 miles in about 10 years, zero problems.
    A 360 7,000 miles in eight months, zero problems.
    My F430 with 14,000 miles in three years, not a single problem.
    All were DAILY drivers, Ferraris can do this just like a Honda.

    Because many of the tracked cars are not maintained as they should be for track use, brakes, fresh brake fluid, engine servicing, trans servicing, clutching etc...

    Same thing with tools that are used in a commercial enviroment vs, the home handyman. See which ones break faster & more often.

    Can someone link to a 360 maintenance schedule? I'm particuarlly interested in the 30k maintenance items besides belt/clutch if needed and annual fluids.

    First of all let me say.. thank you to all the people out there that say a 360 is junk after 10,000 miles. :) And to second that euro cars are less desirable. This rediculous belief helped me find a wonderful 99 euro that now has approx 52,000 miles on it for a FANTASTIC price. She's as reliable as my 02 Boxster and is no different than any other car with that mileage. Well there is one difference.. my 360 at 52,000 miles for a used car was in much better condition than any other used car I've encountered at that milage.

    Back to maintainence costs.. mostly wear items, brake pads, filters, etc. I had to replace the ABS/ASR unit on the car recently as the old motor was burned out (when I bought it nonetheless... ). I suspect that these might go faster on 360's than other cars because ASR system uses the same pump and thus is more active. Other than that the components have held up very well. My clutch is holding up so far.. Only weak spot I've read about is the coils going because of engine heat and use, but I can't imagine any more than Porsches. Don't beat on it and needs filters, pads, belt 3-5 yrs and clutch as appropriate.

    The MAF sensors are rated to 45,000 miles. So you'll likely need to replace those soon, as well as the trailing o2 sensors (the secondary ones)

    I have 61k on mine no problems just regular maintenance .my mechanic told me about a 99 euro at 100k that was faster than a Stradale. and this was a former rental car .

    Not to hijack but I am curious how you guys found the higher mile cars? And what about a euro spec car? I know it's a while for me to get back to a 360 because I have this idea that it's going to take $80K to get one....

    Get this. The workshop manual says that the Exhaust variators have an expected lifetime of 100k kilometers! Interesting how the factory anticipated that in the 360 maintainence schedule!

    High mileage euros and the like. As above, ebay, autotrader, etc. I found mine on Lemonfree.com

    +1 and very true. My F430 has now 31.000 miles and has never been that strong. In another thread I showed the impressive dynos of my car with stock exhaust headers and than the dynos with the Capristo headers. Compared to a low miles Scud, my car develops well more torque even with the stock headers. Well driven on a regular basis, perfectly maintained, these engines can go well over the 100.000 miles. So I wouldn't worry too much about the engine. Although, accessory equipments like motors (ABS, F1 hydraulic pump, fans, power windows, alternator, cooling pump, fuel pumps etc) may fail well before but that's life and you need just to budget them.

    If you're a bit hands on, maintaining yourself a Ferrari is really not that difficult and is in most cases well much easier than other modern cars.

    contact a dealer or reputable shop. Mine is turning 29K and runs exceptionally strong but I am having the fluids changed in a week and adding the Ricambi bushing. cost is less than $1K. Next year i will have the belts and tensioners changed, i am expecting a cost of ~$2500.

    There is not a lot of difference in maintaing these cars from others. It is not a toyota but you shouldnt be spending $3k a year either.

    If something goes wrong which it can with any car, then you will have to pay up but that can happen at any mileage.

    28K Miles on my 3 pedal car - normal belts and fluids notwithstanding:

    New Clutch
    New Alarm battery
    New Drivers door mechanism
    New Battery

    Not too bad at all.

    There was a very good thread on maintenance costs recently. I believe that the costs average about $3K per year once you factor in clutch, brakes, etc. This does not include tires, gas, insurance, ... The cost may really be as high as $5k but I don't think it averages that high unless something breaks.

    im averaging about 7-8K a year just for maintenance....but its not consistent, but once in a while you get some pricey projects. Also I don't just put bandaids on small issues and hope they go away....i am very proactive in the maintenance.
