    Hi guys can someone tell me what the clutch switch does in a 360 manual... I have a problem that my car runs like crap but when I jump the switch it runs perfect... I would like to know why this is and what the switch does... (It's the one next to the brake light switch) how do I fix this ?

    Is it an interrupter switch? They are used to prevent the engine from turning over on start without the clutch pedal being pressed. Use don NB Miata 99-00. Disabling helps prevent thrust bearing wear.

    Maybe something in ecu software going into "limp mode." Is the switch faulty or not closing properly?

    The switch is perfect... When plugged in the car runs bad at low rpm when you jump the switch it runs perfect

    No it is not. My 360 starts without depressing the clutch if it is in neutral, of course

    I had a similar problem with my Maserati Spyder. The switch on the clutch had worked back so yes you could start the car without depressing the clutch but in my case the cruise control wouldn't work. The switch is obviously connected to the ECU so it may think the clutch is depressed and limits rpm. It's a very simple fix just screw the switch down.

    But on a 360 screw 19 might need tightning. The switch is 12.

    so i just go the car back form the dealer and they said that the switch doesn't do anything (not true) it was for cruise control.

    i need to find out what the clutch switch does ? does it change timing or do something with fuel ?

    when i by pass mine the car runs good but with it hocked up the car will backfire through the intake if i try and blip the throttle

    Please help

    So you're left with the dilemma of either what really happens or what some guy told you. The switch is to shut off the cruise control when you step on the clutch, otherwise the throttle opening under load would over rev the engine. When it senses the switch the ECU drops engine rpm. But then hey, the switch DOES control the engine and god knows (and few Italians) what happens in the ECU. Just fix it.

    Swap out both ECUs, the immo unit and receiver from another 360. If it runs as expected, then you have an ECU issue.

    Cruise control????? Had no idea the 360 had it, even in F1. Still, this makes no sense that it would be there to do nothing. Hope someone can shed light on this. Seems crazy that we have to reverse engineer this.

    I've never ever seen or heard of a 360 with cruise control either so I think that explanation is a bit off the rails.

    OK so Ferrari's don't have cruise control (I guess cars that aren't driven don't need it), so what's the fix to ForTax's problem?

    So further to this I figured out what it does, it helps with the load calculations for the ecu, it tell the computer if the clutch is in or out... And changes the map to suit... i have a code that is p1531 and the knock sensor says active (on) and the timing retards any thought...

    Old thread bump!

    Did anyone ever get a conclusive answer to the role of the clutch pedal switch within the engine ecus?

    My gut suggests its used to know when the driver de-clutches in order to avoid buzzing the engine?

    Ferrari clutch switches do not prevent a car from cranking or starting.
