    Hi guys
I’m hoping to get some information from people who know more than me. I’m in Western Australia and looking at a 360 Modena for sale. It has covered just over 21000kms (13000miles) and apparently the clutch is at 46% and there are some noisy ball joints. I know clutch wear has lots of determining factors but it seems excessive. The car is on the other side of the country and I don’t know if I should spend time and money investigating further. We have a few cars coming in from the UK and Asia and I have been told mileage tampering is a real thing.
What advice could you wise folk offer?

I personally wouldnt get an imported car, and also yes tampering i feel is common, id be skeptical of that km

If you are not mechanically minded or have knowledge of cars id have someone inspect it with you.
But check the basics yourself also, eg heater and ac works, i got burnt once on a bmw, and now i check EVERYTHING as far as practical myself, and of course the higher value car the more checks id be getting.

Id also be looking at service history and see when cam belts were last done.

PS im in vic if that helps your situation?

If you haven't already read the buying guide at the top - my recollection is to regard ball joints as consumables but clutch wear could be a little high for the mileage but it really depends on previous use - does the paperwork (state inspections & service etc) validate the mileage ?

Thanks for response. Car is in NSW. In my old life I was a mechanic but the car is so far away and if I was next to it I could get a good feel but the kms seem too low.

I have done lots of research and I know about ball joints, heat exchangers, door cables etc etc but unless previous owner was reversing up a driveway for a lot of that 21000km I feel clutch wear is too much. I have asked for service history and have just now received contact details for technician who apparently looked at it last.

Papers, invoices, maybe photoes too: everything else maybe is the truth or maybe a fairytale.
Look at the side of the driver seat: if it has a series of creases near the gap between the side bolster and the upper part of the seat it is possible that the car has got more than 40.000 miles on it.

I don't find the clutch wear that excessive if original clutch and earlier 360...

Actually look in line for a non CS or 2004 TCU
