    I have a 1999 F1 360 Modena. I received it recently, and have a question.

The other day, I was at a dead stop. I switched off ASR, and switched on Sport mode. I changed to 1st gear, waited a few seconds, then stomped on the accelerator, and expected it to light up the back tires and rocket away.

The tach needle shot to redline, but the car barely moved. My eyes were forward, so I must admit I didn't have a chance to see what was displayed on the console read out. However, when I did have a chance to look down, the car was now sitting in neutral.

Again, I'm positive I was in 1st, since the car did move forward a few feet, but somehow the computer switched me back to neutral.

Any ideas what happened? The manual states that one can safely "depress the accelerator the entire way" and that this would allow for a "rapid departure with skidding even on dry roadway conditions," but I've yet to see this.

Thanks, and sorry if this sounds idiotic.

I'm unsure what happened. But either the software itself said "don't engage the clutch" or the clutch just spun without engaging the rest of the drivetrain. But that would have been evident with that lovely clutch smell.

Perhaps if you waited a bit too long before stomping on the gas while you did not have your foot on the brake.... the car engaged neutral after a few seconds. This is normal. It has happened to me a few times at signal lights. It seems to take forever to deliberately step on the brake and shift into first befoer setting off. Usually it happens with some SUV on my rear bumper.

    Hi again, Schatten.

I had my vehicle in recently for servicing, and have not had the same problem since. I'm sure I did something boneheaded the first time, since I encountered the issue only once.
