I have a 2000 360 Modena 6 speed manual. Accelerating in gear the car runs perfectly. Smooth and powerful. However, occasionally the car hesitates when blipping the throttle with no load (clutch in or in neutral). It became more frequent on my last drive. It's bad enough that it makes blipping for downshifts very difficult. It almost feels like the engine is not getting fuel. if I get off the gas and back on it gently, it will clear out and rev up. This NEVER happens with a load on it.

I have searched and seen other posts where people have had similar problems but never seen a resolution. Car has no codes. Could it be a MAF on the way out? Car has 26K miles. One MAF was just replaced in April along with all of the 02 sensors. Was thinking I'd change the other for good measure.

With all the chatter about a car running less than perfect blowing out the precats and in turn destroying the motor, I want to fix it before I drive much more. Any ideas would help.

I would try to disconnect the battery over night, (there is a rotary switch front hood passenger side), then re-connect the battery back, start the engine and let it idle for about 10 minutes. This will re-learn all ECU parameters. Try, it's easy and you got nothing to lose .... make sure you have the radio code though, because you will need upon battery re-connection.
Good luck and let us know how it goes ....

You should change both air flow sensors the same time (about $150 each same as some EU FIAT's), when they start going bad you will not get any faults... It could also be one (or more) of the coil packs....

Get it properly diagnosed. Steer clear of cheapo MAF's if that's the issue, buy genuine Bosch (not Ferrari rip-off price!) or you will end up with marginal long term fuel trims which will cause long term damage....

If you have a fault, switching the battery off will clear the adaptive values and occasionally the misfire. It is not a fault repair.

Had a similar hesitation in a friends 360. His started throwing code p1153. Turned out to be a fuel pump. To check yours get a pressure gauge and check your pressure off of the fuel rail. There is a shrader valve on each side. Pressure should be around 45 psi and stay steady after you turn the power off. If it drops or is lower there is your problem.

You could try cleaning your mafs but I wouldn't just throw parts at it. There would be a code if they were bad.

I would look at the coils.

30 seconds on an SD2 and the dx should be easy.
