    I have a 2000 mile, stock, 360, the stock muffler has a seam that runs at the mid point and around the short way. A tiny, tiny amount of exhaust gas appears to be leaking. Also there is some evidence that the muffler slip fits together in the middle near the debossed hand print warning symbol. It seems to be "breathing" about 1/4 to 3/8" as it heats up and cools down, is it normal for this seam to be a slip fit or did the spot welds break?

    I think that's normal and muffler actually expands from the middle when hot!

    Completely normal, allows for thermal expansion, not to worry. Although you should consider a Capristo!
