Just installed the new Clarion NZ503 into my 360 this afternoon. I know not everybody's cup of tea, but WOW, what a difference over the stock unit.

My car has the HiFi option and I have for the time being retained the factory amplifier but did install Focal speakers in the doors and JL's in the sub enclosure.

I know have the added functions of:

    1. Navigation
    2. Bluetooth audio (Pandora/Sirius)
    3. Bluetooth phone
    4. USB audio
    5. Backup camera
    6. Crisp audio reproduction!!

Here are a couple of pictures of the NZ503 installed, I just need to load the Ferrari wallpaper into it:

Very nice. How does the navigation antenna hook up? Does the headunit connect directly to the factory navigation cable (the one, which is connected to the factory becker unit)?

I haven't placed the navigation antenna yet, at the moment it's sitting next to the battery and seems to be working perfectly. I plan on experimenting with placing it in a location out of sight if possible. If I have reception issues, I will place it between the defrost vents on the dash. I would be interested to hear where other have placed theirs.

As for the factory navigation cable (pin 2 I believe), I didn't have to use it.

Nice! Did you buy adaptor or splice in wires? If adaptor - can you provide source?

    Thanks

Interesting. How did you install the backup camera?

The adaptor is Scosche VW01B, I purchased it on eBay for $4.99. I retained all factory plugs/harnesses for an easy return to stock if desired.

I opted to use the Rydeen RYD ZH07150B Universal Mini Camera, CMOS III NightVision Technology as oppose to the license plate mounted camera that many have used.

The Rydeen is very compact and has the proximity lines along with the ability to adjust the view depending on mounting position.

I chose to mount through the license plate light lens which gives a factory appearance. I will post pictures when I replace the bumper as I have it off for an exhaust upgrade.

Very nice, but you really should change the amp too. Those speakers demand better.

Could you possibly post a pic and the #'s of the JL' you used for subs as well. Thanks

I purchased a Hertz four channel digital amp (DCM1000), just haven't decided how I want to hook it up. With the HiFi option, I would probably need to run all new wires which is a day on its own... A project for when it cools down a little...

    Hi MP,

My stereo installer has been pushing me to go with Pioneer equipment. Did you look into Pioneer at all? It seems you did the work yourself. How did you decide on the different adapters, back up etc. Any assistance would greatly appreciated.

    Jeff,

The only adaptor that was needed was for the factory harness of which you will need the VW plug (Scosche VW01B). This adaptor pulls power (Constant & Switched), remote on (factory amp) and the illumination switch on one side (Plug/Socket A) and speaker output on the other side (Plug/Socket B). The speaker wires actually have the same color coding, the basic install was actually quite simple/easy.

As I'm currently using the factory amp, speaker level inputs are used which really simplified the install.

All the other needed outputs/inputs are on the unit itself which allow for the camera, sat antenna, USB, etc.

The backup camera was chosen due to its compact size, ease/flexibility of mounting, factory look.

As for Pioneer, I couldn't find one that met my needs and the fact that Ferrari sells the NZ503 as factory equipment confirmed my choice.

I looked at the Pioneer AHX7500BT, but doesn't come with navigation (It's an optional/add-on feature). The Clarion had everything that I use including navigation self contained.

Other than that, It's a nice unit.

I think the OEM antenna is placed in the corner up under the dashpad over the top of the steering column.

Looks Great. Perhaps add a transfer decal above the screen too! IIRC the about to be available Ferrari branded one has some more logos on the unit.

Were you ever able to post pics of the backup camera installed? Also, did you use any type of dash kit like the one the Ferrari Infotainment unit comes with since it's the same as NZ503? Thank you

I would be interested in that as well. By all accounts the standard camera that comes with the Clarion/Ferrari unit doesn't have guide lines and is not of good quality.

I intend on adding the Ferrari dash kit 70003196 as it does provide a cleaner look. Unfortunately my car is still in the shop having the CS bumper/skirts installed, once I get it back I will take pictures of the rear camera install.

I still need to install the Hertz amp which will require me buying the larger amp cradle made by Scuderia Audio and some additional wiring. With the weather cooling down I can complete this and also my header install...

I just installed an NZ503 as well. Where can I find the 70003196 adapter faceplate?
Some dude on ebay wants $300 for them (and I assume it also comes with a bag of meth for that price!)
