Now that I've managed to deep discharge the battery in my 360 beyond recovery, what is the consensus on its replacement? Optima, OEM, Interstate, ???

I think I paid 65 dollars for one from Advanced Auto with a 3 year replacement warranty. I keep it on the trickle charger now.

The 360 battery being installed in the interior of the car needs a sealed battery with a vent port that can be connected to a hose that can be routed to the exterior of the car just as the original has. Not doing so will allow the hydrogen gas the batteries produce to be vented to the interior of the car, and that should not be done. That requirement will limit your battery choices. The last time I checked the only battery I had available to me in this area was an Interstate.

There is a vent hose on the Advanced Auto battery.

I thought the Optimas were completely sealed -- no outgassing at all. (They were the choice for relocating the Celica All Trac batteries into the rear pass compartment (to get rid of the bends in the intake to get around it).)

But a battery with a vent connector sounds like a good idea, if you're charging the battery in the garage over the winter.

Do not get another factory oem Fiamm battery...there are several threads on how short lived they are. Below, is a post I found in the archives, hope it is helpful:

    "More 360 Battery info

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My battery died about two weeks ago. Ron Tonkin (FNA dealer) recommends a Interstate battery as well--noting that it is cheaper, vented, and fits easily. They only keep the stock FIAMM on hand for warranty claims. FWIW I took the FIAMM into GI Joes and physically compared it to all of the Optimas--nothing is the same size, and further the shape of the case (due to plastic molding around the terminals) would seem to make it a difficult fit (and more difficult to secure) in the stock battery holdown. I'm sure there are creative solutions to make it work, but I'm going for the Interstate. (Optimas are sealed, so the vent tube issue isn't a problem)."

I would go for the interstate with the vent tube. Is is the best available option and we have been using them for replacements with no significant problems.

    regards, Jim
