Do 360s have an oil thermostat and if so where does it reside? i cant see one on parts diagrams.

I have a challenge car i use on the road and it seems to take forever to build oil temp, id just like to understand the differences in the oil cooling system vs road cars.

What would you deem to be "operating oil temp" on a 360 modena, and what temp would you deem is too hot?

    Thanks Jay

Not to be a wise guy... But all that info is in the owner's manual.

    Thanks for the response,

From what i can see the manual just says sub 4k rpm until circa 70 degrees oil temp in relation to warmup, i cant find anything relating to normal operating temps once fully up to temp and or max temps. In truth id like to know the aforementioned in an on track environment, but i figured it would be a good start to ask people with much more 360 experience than i, about their objective observations from the real world use of their cars.

I also cant find anything pertaining to oil thermostats in the manual i have.

If ive missed something in the manual feel free to direct me to the relevant page?

    Thanks Jay

Fair enough... I don't track my car and I've never gotten the "slow down" warning light. But I do engage in very "spirited rides" and I am in Florida-- air temps get pretty hot here.

Track guys need to chime in. Good luck.

The info in the manual is scattered but 302F/150C is when it's recommended to slow down or stop. A red light in the cluster should turn on at 311F.

I don’t believe there is a thermostat for the oil. The circuit has a pump and the oil cooler on the passenger side is inline.
The temp sensor is at the bottom of the transaxle casing on the driver side close to the axle behind the starter. It’s easy to replace if you suspect it may not read temps properly.
