...... Do you put octane booster in every fuel tank fill-up? Since we have that **** 91 Octane here, I can hear detonation under certain circumstances such as hard acceleration low in the rev range. Yes, I'm fully aware that I should downshift a gear or two at that point, but even sometimes at 80mph on the freeway I still might hear it ping when I floor it in sixth gear to pass someone. Researching here, I see that our engines are rated for 93 octane minimum. So how do the rest of you deal with the watered-down crap that we are forced to run here in the Golden State?
I have a euro 360 3 pedal, never had any pinging at any RPM range. Never added octane booster either. Can't speak for others but I've never had any issues with detonation. Thinking you may have a fuel or timing issue. Have you ever had the car checked since taking ownership?
I have no issues either. Where do you see that 93 is specified? Are you sure you are not looking at Euro specification? - their octane rating is different than US... Google it.
I've never ran octane booster before either. I guess we are so used to the watered down stuff, we don't know any better. I'm not really wanting to spend 8-9 dollars a gallon for race fuel. Although the smell of it out your exhaust is nice.
if you can hear the engine pinging, you need a louder exhaust ! Seriously, I don't use a octane booster and I have not noticed any pinging or issues.
Same here - I mix in 100 octane in about a 50/50 ratio in the 360 and my M3. I don't believe I'm making any additional HP but the throttle response seems to be marginally better in both cars and they seem to run a bit smoother in the hot weather. I didn't have any pinging or related issues either (with 91).
