My '01 360 is throwing periodic PO130 CELs. Apparently PO131 for bank 2 as well, though I haven't seen that one personally. I first noticed it after the gearbox was out (hence the sensors disconnected IIRC) last BUT I may simply have not encountered it because I seem to get cat efficiency codes first and I had a habit of clearing them.

The obvious thing was done, replacing the sensors. The CEL still comes back after a few days. Whenever I check with my OBDII scanner, it's closed loop and the voltages are moving around within the ranges you'd expect. I think I saw between 0.2 and 0.45 when I checked the other day.

The car just came back from Auto Elite. They cleaned up a corroded ground they found somewhere, fixed a few vacuum leaks, and found my exhaust cam timing a tiny bit out on one bank. As mentioned, they tossed in new sensors. The car is running better than ever.

Any thoughts? If I'm actually getting BOTH codes, is there a common bit of wiring somewhere that would be suspect?

I realize I don't really know what the code means. I'm sure it throws a code if it sees no voltage. What else? Slow to warm up?

My understanding is that the platinum wire has an output of about 1-1.5 volts. When the oxygen concentration is out of range, the voltage output also goes out of range.
Let me see.. new O2 sensors so the contacts should be OK. Ground cleaned? Not ground(s)? If you take off the engine covers, there are grounds on either side bolted to the frame. I unbolted them last year and used some fine sandpaper to ensure no oxidation. I agree with you, could be that a ground on the cars body could be causing the wiring loom on the car to read an erroneous output when in fact its within normal limits.

Alternatively, are you sure the catalytic convertor seal is really tight on both sides? Where it connects to the header? You sure its not loose and letting in air periodically?

Based on further reading, a typical CEL trip (it seems to be left at least partly to the implementers) is <0.4V for some period of time. I saw 0.2 for a bit at idle yesterday.

Agree grounds would be a first check but Mark at Auto Elite actually did check them and even cleaned one up.

FWIW, the full range of voltage should be from 0.1 to 0.9:

Thank you for clarifying! So 0.5V is near ideal..
