As a new owner of an '03 360, I noticed the driver side window will go up or down with the "one touch" kind of feature so you don't need to hold the power window switch on the dash. Not so for the passenger's side. Is this normal?

hmmmm... normal I suppose. Even if it seems kind of odd. Why design it that way(?)

Not only is it normal, it is normal for most cars that have power windows. I believe the feature was originally designed for those who go through toll booths and drive-thrus a lot, hence the reason it is typically found only on the driver side.

Plenty of threads here on that feature/issue. You can do a search.

Yes, its that way by design and it's the same as F430.

No official explanation from Ferrari I am aware of. We can only assume that the passenger side is that way for safety reasons so that in case you need to immediately stop the window motion to prevent injury to someone getting caught by the window motion it will stop by just releasing the switch.

Same on my 360, 456M, and Toyota. lol I've never heard of a car that has a one touch window on the passenger side.

By the way, on my BMW M6 and M4, all windows are full auto raise and retract.

The 360 Spider I had and now my F430 Spider as you all have discovered only driver side is full auto. I don't understand.....

Yep, sadly Ferrari seem to have this weird idea of only fitting the "one-shot" window feature to the driver's side....
As others note, every other car I've owned in the last 10 years has had this feature for all windows.

It was suggested to me a while ago that replacing the passenger side window ECU with a driver's side one might sort the problem but I've never gotten around to trying it!

Porsche must have a different view. Both sides are one touch.

I have this weird ritual where after I park, I have to use both hands to raise both windows to expedite the exit of the vehicle

Don't do it. It will make your F1 transmission malfunction!

    (Just kidding)

My Mercedes and Audi(s) have provided full auto, even for rear windows in the case of the Audi... I think it's just a thing for these sporty cars of the early 2000's :)

No fear for me, I've got a stick not paddles lol
In all seriousness, the only reason I haven't tried it is that I don't have a spare drivers ECU

So this thread has got me motivated again, my car's in the shop at the moment having a few little jobs done, I've asked the mechanic for his thoughts on the idea of installing another driver's side window ECU to replace the current PAX side one and whether that would solve this issue - I seem to remember that the last time I had the dash panel out the wiring to the 2 switches is the same so the theory is sound!

Normal for 360 and my 550. You would think both windows would be “one touch” at this price point. The other thing that really bugs me about Ferrari is their stupid key fobs requiring you to push a button and sequence the thing before it will start the car. Otherwise everything else is perfect:)

This may be an exotic Italian car thing. My 360 and Maserati GranSport both do not have the one-touch for the passenger window. My wife's AMGs do have it for all windows. Not really too big a deal for me.

I certainly couldn't care less either. Just found it really curious. But I do love the windows down, engine sounds filling the cabin! I don't own a lot of "newer" cars so I thought this was kind of unusual though...

Automatic "up" on the passenger side I can see as a safety thing (not to mention that most new cars have a pressure sensor to go back down if obstructed in some way while on the way up) but automatic down? why not?

So your saying it's okay to crush the drivers hand but not the passengers hand???

At this price point we should have cruise control too!
I mean the 360 is suppose to be driven, well it would be nice to have cruise control for some long distance runs!

I you're the driver and you crush your own hand, well what can I say... not a big fan of idiot-proofing.

I do miss the cruise control but kind of glad, and in fact, respect Ferrari for essentially saying you're taking the wrong car on your trip if you're going to use cruise control.

So the mechanic has decided that the easiest way to confirm once and for is to temporarily swap my drivers and pax side window ECUs over..
He'll be doing that in the coming days, I'll report his findings!

If that works maybe a business reflashing window ECUs.
