So I'm sure many of you are tired of these type of posts, but I need some opinions on a 2000 360. http://www.jakesmotorcars.com/web/used/Ferrari-360-Modena-2000-San-Diego-CA/4257963/ I have seen and driven the car. Have not done a PPI. Let's assume all checks out. What do you think the car is worth?
might even be a little more than that -- the car has a lot going for it: the color combo, only 2 owners, mileage not too high and not too low (to me anyway). Only real dings are no challenge grille, puckered passenger airbag cover, and the F1 trans (to me anyway). If you are going to get a PPI, i suggest you pay a few hundred extra and have the tech remove the cats and inspect the pre-cats in the headers. This is easily done with the cats removed (you just look right into the cat-end of the header pipe) its easy to see if they have turned, shifted, or started breaking down (and begun spewing pre-cat bits into the cat pipe). This is a very exxpensive repair and was unfortunately the case with my 2000 360 when i bought it last year (at 29k miles). The dealer did a 'normal' PPI for $350 which was pretty worthless. Had I known then what I know now I would have gladly paid double or trip[le that to have the ability to either walk away or at least been a position to negotitate further with the owner. Its juust a hunch, but I think a very large percentage (perhaps all) 360s with original headers, 20k+ miles, and in the 8-years old and older range will have this issue, but youu can only be sure by direct inspection.
I was also going to comment on the color combo pulling a premium. I agree with FTA on pretty much all his comments. Red/tan adds value, however the F1 trans to me as well makes it less desirable.
You're back at it High 60's (but I doubt you'll get there at a dealer) to low 70's. My only little knock on it is it's a very base car (no tubi, grills, etc) other than the Daytona seats. PPI and make a deal... all of this looking and no driving is killing you slowly I bought another 430 when I was in SD from Ferrari of San Diego, because well, because I'm out of my mind and should have never sold periokid my 360 in the first place - LOL
To me, this is a pretty desirable car (even if it is an F1 and even if it has some miles on it and even with no shields or the challenge grill). Right colors, right seats cannot be changed, and this car has them. Also, the fact that it has all its books, keys, fobs, AND EVEN THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER at 12 years old says people (owners) loved this car. To me, that is really important. Again - I put the best-most desirable 360 coupe in the world at $95K - and holding firm. Here _ I deduct $10K for the higher miles, $5K for model year, and $5K for no shields and less than impressive list of other options. So - around $75K if everything else checks out perfect.
