360 Replace Oil Screen / Oil Suction Fan

I wanted to replace the oil screen or Oil Suction Fan part # 177130 since mine had a small whole on the top.
The old one fits just fine, the new one stops just before the black plastic part starts.

This is 2003 - 360 early assembly.

I have tried several times to get the new oil screen to fit. I have event tried to lightly tap it with a small hammer. It is definitely hitting some that prevents it from going any further in.
I did measure the end cap and noticed that the metal ring on the end is slightly larger than the plastic end cap.

Has any one else experience this? Ricombi verified this is the correct part and there has not been any revisions.

 

No it's still sitting in a box - I did contact Ricambi where I bought the part from and below was there response

This is not a revised part.

The issue is not the screen, but likely a very small fragment of manufacturing casting inside the cavity where the screen is inserted. You'll need to removed your old filter and file away whatever protrusion is seen in the gearbox casing. Unfortunately, simply buying a new 182100 and inserting it into your gearbox will probably not have a different result from your last attempt.

I am still using the old one and would like to figure out why the new on stop about 1/2" from the end.

 

Great Link - I will pull that plate as well and see if mine is the same issue - I would think filing the casting would be in order to prevent the screen from being damaged again.
