I am replacing my RH side header. I looked thru the WSM and I have a few questions as the WSM descriptions are less than impressive. The Torque specs mention nomenclature that is not described and or different than shown in the exploded diagrams. I have new gaskets on the way for the Head and the Doughnut.

    1. What is the torque spec for the nuts that anchor the header to the head? Is it the 25 NM or the 75 NM.

    2. What is the torque for the "doughnut" bolts?

    3. It calls for Molybdenum Bisulphide for reassembly. A Quick Google tells me there is a Disulphide....perhaps a misprint? Is this Anti Seize? Is there a Favorite out there to use?

    4. Any Lessons Learned on this? Bolts strip out of head? Break Off Alot? Etc...

    Thanks

    1. Header bolt torque is 25nm.
    2. "Doughnut" bolts get tightened alternately until even and tight.
    3. Anti-seize is what you want, I use Copper Slip, I like it better than the silver colored stuff.
    4. I have had studs come out with the nut before, never broke one or stripped one.
Oh, the "doughnut" bolts will break. They are just standard bolts, nothing special.

I agree with Wade on all points! I too use copper slip, and if the bolts on the doughnuts won't shift I buzz through them with a Dremmel, as I always renew them anyway. Don't use stainless nuts and bolts though!

Thanks a lot guys. After spending a few mins in the WSM I see how a lot gets lost in translation and how hard you guys jobs can be.

You are so right on the translation.
I forgot about stainless hardware, it's a no no. I agree with Rusty on that too.
