I am looking at buying a 2002 360 spider and was told the fuel pumps, rollover valves and intake gaskets are original and should be replaced due to time. Is it standard to replace these items on a time schedule?

Wait till the fuel pumps start to leak at the top. you'll smell them. Rollovers when you can't pass smog. they crack at the top like the pumps. You can check for the intake mani gaskets but I'd wait till an issue. I don't beleive waiting will cause any negative issues. My fuel pumps leaked, 2004 spider. Smelled yes...both separately, at different times, added jb weld on a rally to one...would have lasted a long time I think, but I'm picky. Worry about the exhaust mani's precat coming apart and sucking back into the engine. I'd replace them before an issue as it could implode your motor.

Doing roll over valves in a spider requires pulling the top assembly out. With the top out belts, intake gaskets and clutches are easier. Wait until a multiple of those items is needed. Also roll over valves availability can be spotty and they keep getting more expensive. Buy them and throw them on the shelf for when the time comes.

Do all years of the 360 spider need the top removed to do this repair?

For rollovers yes, later years have access panels so the pumps can be replaced without removing the top.

All years have access panels for the pumps. . It was transmission removal that was only later years.

With your 20 years of experience servicing the 360, what do you routinely change on a belt service?
I'm not trying to start a belt debate, but i would like to know do you recommend this service on a 3 or 5 year interval?

There is no way I would advise a customer with a 22 year old 360 now to wait until they smell fuel to replace fuel pumps or rollover valves. We regularly recommend these at 20 years old now and we see pumps failing on the 430 even earlier. If you look at the pictures of 360 and 430 car fires nearly all of tehm start in the fuel pump area.

Pumps are too big a fire hazard to wait for. But they are very easy to change at anytime.
Roll over valves I have never seen to be a fire hazard. They can wait for a CEL or the top being removed for some reason.
